Hussar 4H Pub­lic Speak­ing

On Fe­bru­ary 24, the Hussar 4H Club held their Pub­lic Speak­ing Com­pe­ti­tion at Hussar School. In all, 16 ju­nior and 11 in­ter­me­di­ate mem­bers pre­sented a pre­pared and an im­promptu speech.

The em­cee for the Ju­nior cat­e­gory speeches was Brooke Fandry, and the em­cee for the in­ter­me­di­ates was Ad­di­son Muller. The judges for the Ju­nior speak­ers were: Je­neen Arm­strong, Della Arm­strong, Erica Thew, Betty MacDon­ald, Rhonda Treacy, and Linda Holt. The judges for the In­ter­me­di­ate speak­ers were: Blake Ba­log, Chelsea Neilsen, Mikayla Wa­ters, Louise Ritchie, Sid Holt, and Jen Sch­midt. The Club would like to ex­tend a big thank you to all of the judges who took time out of their busy lives to join us!

In the Ju­nior level, Ja­son Slemko won 1st, Kylie Bishop won 2nd, and the al­ter­nate was Grace Gre­gory. At the In­ter­me­di­ate level, Erin Slemko won 1st, Koal Sam­mons won 2nd, and the al­ter­nate was Katie Taubert.

Thank you to all the vol­un­teers, judges, em­cees, lead­ers and ev­ery­body else that helped. Thank you also to ev­ery­body who came to watch, and all of the par­ents for the de­li­cious potluck sup­per.

Good Luck to Erin, Katie, Ja­son and Kylie who will be ad­vanc­ing to com­pete at District Pub­lic Speak­ing in Strath­more on March 12.
