Good job boys on a great season!
Kevin, Barb, Erin and Jason Slemko enjoyed a holiday in Costa Rica from February 5-18. They rented a car and travelled around the country staying in four different regions. The first few days were spent in the rainforest at the base of a volcano. There, they enjoyed hot springs, waterfall rappelling, white water rafting, ziplining and a tour of a chocolate plantation. From there, they travelled to Manuel Antontio Park on the coast where they enjoyed the beach, surf lessons, and a visit to an animal rescue centre. They spent one day at a cloud forest in Monteverde before concluding their trip at a resort on the coast where they enjoyed some pool time and relaxation in the sun. The weather was wonderful with the temperatures in the mid 30’s.
Congratulations to Joanne Taubert who recently retired from her position at the CNRL Sieu Lake gas plant. She was honored with a celebration and received a beautiful grandfather clock recognizing 36 years of employment for the various companies that have owned the plant. It will be a big change for her but she is looking forward to being able to spend more time with her 2 little granddaughters who live in Calgary.
This weekend grandparents Terry and Ben Armstrong, Dianne Brown and Robert Damen joined parents to watch Zone curling in Drumheller where the Strathmore mixed team took the bronze after losing only one of the four games played. The skip was Cole Burton, 3rd Layne Wilson, 2nd Cort Armstrong and lead Mackenzie Bobee. They also had a spare, Kazy (Kazuhisa Naguchi) an international exchange student from Japan and the coaches were Brad Steele and Michelle Ledene. It was fun to watch an ice sport with no body contact!!
