Campus Alberta Central’s (CAC) goal is for students, in the Drumheller area, to receive further education, for courses that are accredited and transferable to universities, while staying within their own community. CAC is a joint venture between Olds College and Red Deer College that provides post-secondary educational opportunities to communities throughout the central Alberta region.

Working with the Red Deer College, programs are available from Administration, Business, Communication to Management courses. There will also be Early Learning Childcare and Unit Clerk Cer- tificate programs. CAC also has a new program, Practical Nurse and Health Care Aid starting in February 2017.

CAC works with Olds College and several of their courses, starting September 2016, are related to tourism and accommodation certificate programs. They also have Agriculture/Heavy Equipment Technician, Land Analyst, Rural Finance & Entrepreneur and Veterinary Medical Receptionist Certificate programs.

“For example, CAC partnered with Starland County, at the gravel pit, teaching heavy duty equipment usage and maintenance. Courses are also done face-to-face and/or through webinars.” said Drumheller Community Learning/CAC Site Manager Dana Davidson.

CAC has partnered with Drumheller Valley Secondary School, the Health Care Aide Certificate program which is available to grade eleven students wanting to enter the health care field.

CAC has non-credit programs, through the Adult Learning Program. Davidson has noticed that a lot more people are acquiring their General Education Diploma (GED). This diploma program allows students to receive further education at SAIT/NAIT or courses offered at CAC.

CAC, on Centre St., Drumheller, will be having an Open House on April 20, from 3:00 pm till 7:00 pm.
