The Hussar Historical Society is starting the next stage in getting our history book ready to print. We are starting to edit stories and get them saved under the right format. This means that we are still accepting stories even a little after our final due date. I know it seems like we may be saying this over and over again, but we want to make sure everyone gets their story in so we can make it up to date for everyone. Our e-mail address is hussarheritage@ gmail.com. Please keep sending your story in….
The Hussar Kindergarten Association will be working our next casino on June 23 and 24, 2016. Our school has 28 families that attend and we have 36 spots to fill. So if you can attend the casino, please let Pam Collett know. If you and your spouse want to work together, that would work great too!! This casino is called Kindergarten but it funds all of the special events that happen in our school. If you can spare some hours to help out, that would be appreciated.
Congratulations to the Hussar Fireworks ringette team on a great season. They made it to the semifinals in playoffs but couldn’t get past Indus.

Randy and Wendy Kaiser travelled back to Houston with Garry and Linda Kaiser on Monday, February 22 spending a couple of days there before heading to Roatan. They met up with Tom and Angie Armstrong, Earl and Dawn Brinton, and Fred and Yvette Rice spending a week of R and R. They visited the Charmont Bilingual Academy - originally the Morgan Jayne Foundation and delivered some much needed supplies for the orphans and teachers. We took marbles, balls, paper, pencils, sticky notes, glow sticks, formula, tylenol, stomach remedies and hand delivered them to Jan Nelson, the founder. They have next to nothing and were so grateful for what we gave them - thanks to all who donated things for us to take. They currently have 50 kids there with 50 more on the waiting list. They also feed the teachers and all the kids breakfast and lunch - for some the only food they get. The money we left there will feed them all for a couple of weeks. We took in an inland island tour, a boat tour of a few islands and got in some sun, snorkelling and some hammock time. It truly is one of the most beautiful beaches out there.
Randy and Wendy Kaiser took their harvest help out to Drumheller for supper on March 6. A little late but better late than never.
Congratulations to Mackenzie Holm and her team, the Strathmore U16B ringette for winning the Zone 2 Banner against Cochrane. To finish off their season the girls will be heading to Medicine Hat March 11-13 for Provincials.
Carey Taubert with Sonya Elias, Heather Crook, Aunt Fay & Stacy Hainstock flew to New Orleans from February 28 – March 4 to celebrate Heather’s “big” birthday. They stayed at Place D’Armes Hotel which dates back to 1820. They enjoyed a city tour, swamp tour, visited the “Oak Alley Plantation”, had lunch aboard a steamboat and cruised the Mississippi, enjoyed the Garden District and a cemetary tour, did an evening ghost tour, overdosed on “Hurricanes”, loved the nightly local jazz music on Frenchmen Street, shopped on Magazine street, and loved the local cuisine including fried alligator, seafood gumbo, crawfish, shrimp creole, oysters, po boy sandwiches, grits and especially the beignets! Will definitely be going back!
