We have had an exceptional winter, yet it is such a welcome sight to see the birds migrating back, even the pesky starlings are a sure sign that Spring is coming. Just waiting for the first robin sighting, that will make it official.
Sympathy of the community goes out to the family of Keith Morrison who passed away in Calgary at the end of February. Sincere condolences to his wife, his family and many friends and relatives. Services were held in Delia on March 7.
Last Sunday seven members of the Drop In Centre were in Castor to
of see the play “I’ll Get My Man”, a production of the Castor Little Theatre. It was an English farce in 3 acts performed by a cast of local actors. The brunch was delicious and we all enjoyed the play.
The Endiang floor curling club held their annual Sadie Hawkins Day Funspiel on Monday and hosted sixteen teams from Castor, Halkirk, Stettler, Botha, Endiang and Delia. A few ladies dressed in Sadie Hawkins costumes, Joan Morrison from Delia won first prize for best costume. It was a fun day. we all enjoyed that great hospitality Endiang is famous for. Thanks, Endiang, for another special day!
The Delia United Church will be holding services on Palm Sunday, March 20, and on Easter Sunday, March 27. Both services will be at 10 a.m.
Have you got your tickets for the Irish Stew supper on Saturday, March 19, from 5 to 7 p.m., at the Delia Drop In Centre? Tickets are available from any member of the Drop In Centre, the supper features Irish Stew with all the trimmings and a great variety of pies to choose from.
Remember to “spring forward” –on Sunday, March 13, when Daylight Saving Time begins. If you don’t turn your clocks ahead you will be late for Church on Sunday. Remember the Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by the Delia Elks and Royal Purple, as well on Sunday, March 13, from 9 until noon.
The general meeting
at the Drop In Centre will happen at 10 in the morning, Thursday, March 10. Come for the meeting and stay for coffee, visiting, and cards. Everyone welcome.
The Delia Library will host a Family Book Club in March, asking families to read a book together for the month. This month’s selection is Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery. Families can post their comments about their reading on www.delialibrry.ca under Book Club Discussion tab. Families participating will have their name entered for a draw.
TREX travelling Art Exhibit at the Delia Library March 2 – April 4, 2016, free. This exhibition considers this influence of the arts as it has been expressed through both the music and visual arts of Alberta. Featuring a selection of songs produced by some of Alberta’s most notable musical artists and visual art works drawn from the collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts demonstrating how the lyrics of a song or an image hung on a wall can create a mood, evoke a memory etc.
Attention parents of children 0 to 6 years old! The C.O.W. Bus will be coming to Delia Library in the morning of March 23! Bring your children and explore the interactive literary centres on this fun classroom on wheels. Please contact your library for more information on time schedules.
