Please note that there will not be a Maundy Thursday service this year as it coincides with the Rosebud Masterworks Choir’s performance at Knox United in Drumheller. Friends of East Wheatland is looking to put bleachers in the new gymnasium. $200/ seat will get your name on a plaque. Please think of do- nating, the money needs to be in place before the bleachers are ordered in April!
The Standard Figure Skating Club will hold its annual carnival coming up on March 13 from 1-3 pm. It is superhero themed this year. There will be a bake sale and raffle table also. Come support the kids and indulge in some yummy treats!

The Standard Playschool is looking to hire a permanent teacher to start April 5, 2016. Our temporary maternity leave position ends at the end of March and our teacher on maternity leave isn’t coming back. Playschool classes, for the remainder of this year, are Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:00-11:45. They hope that for the 2016/2017 school year there will be enough students registered to run two classes, two times per week Tuesday/ Thursday schedule. The Standard-Hussar tyke team is having a buddy day on March 9 at 4:30 at the Standard arena. If you have kids ages 4-6 that would be interested in playing hockey next year, come have them try it out. They need to have all the proper equipment.
The Hope Bridges Society announced its Winter 2016 Projects and Workshops, including a stop at the Standard Library. The project will be beginner and intermediate entangle, a relaxing and easy to learn repetitive pattern art. The date of the workshop is March 15 and 22. The NLC youth’s next fundraiser will be a mega garage sale to be held on Sports Day at the church. They are seeking donations of items to sell. Standard Community Chest has begun canvassing in the village. The Community Chest is celebrating 60 years as a charitable organization. It was created in February of 1956. Thank you for your continued support. Watch for canvassers coming to your door!
