NGC Peewee Raptors on way to league finals
The NGC Raptors are on their way to the league championship following a come from behind overtime win Saturday afternoon.
The Raptors were in Medicine Hat on March 5 for game 3 of the semi final series. They lost the first game, but tied up the series at home on the previous Sunday.
On Saturday however, they found themselves down 5-2 in the third period. “With about six minutes to go we started to make the comeback,” said coach Lyle Cawiezel.
The Raptors tied it up in regulation time and then scored the winner in extra time. Zachary Cawiesel had three goals and one assist for four points and Tyler Boyko haD two goals and two assists for four points. Christians Ferro as had a goal.
“Overall I like their commitment to the team. They have bee really clicking at getting it out of our zone, that has been good the last couple games and then keeping the pressure up,” he said.
This win puts them on to play Claresholm who beat out Chestemere.
Coach Cawiezel says they have to be ready for some tough competition.
“We tied them last time we played and we had some good games with them where they capitalized in the third period and scored a couple, but we should be able to compete with them pretty good,” said Cawiezel.
“The Raptors will take on Claresholm this Friday night at 6 p.m. on the road.
