Summer Youth Camp offers students glimpse into RCMP career
RCMP Youth Camp is a once in a lifetime opportunity for those considering employment in law enforcement.
The week-long summer camp is offered to students in grades 11 and 12. Coed student selection is based on academic achievement, fitness and an interest in a policing career. Recipients will be required to have a valid class 5 driver’s license. While at camp, students will be issued parts of the RCMP uniform to wear and will be expected to act as a troop-intraining. Students will be required to wake up early, keep dorms clean and behave as professional representatives of the RCMP.
The program offers participation and observations of activities such as; drill, driver simulator training, firearms, police officer scenarios, fitness, training, troop graduation and a tour of the RCMP Heritage Centre and much more. Students will be able to interact with police officers from many different units within the RCMP.
By the end of the week-long camp, the group will develop a good understanding of the career possibilities offered by the RCMP.
This opportunity will allow students to interact with police officers from many different units with the RCMP, and obtain a better understanding of what life would be like as a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
