With sad­ness, I an­nounce the pass­ing of my Dad, Pete Edi­ger on March 9 at the age of 88 years old. A Me­mo­rial Ser­vice will be held on Thurs­day, March 17, 2016 at the Lord of All Lutheran Church in Strath­more.

The Rock­y­ford Ladies Gala will be held on May 7. The theme for this year is Glitz and Glam­our “Be the Star”. Tick­ets will be avail­able on April 8.

Easter Sun­day ser­vice at the United Church will take place on March 27 at 10:30 a.m. Ev­ery­one is wel­come.

The next “Soup Day” at the Friend­ship Cen­tre is on Wed­nes­day, April 13 from noon to 1 p.m.

Birth­day greet­ings to those of you cel­e­brat­ing this week are sent to; Alex Koester, Ardis Ket­ten­bach, Brandi and Brit­tany Weg­ner, Dale Dahm, Lynda Arnold, John Burke, Ward Dry­dale, John Garvin and Ken Ped­er­sen. Happy An­niver­sary to; Dale and Linda Dahm and to any­one else cel­e­brat­ing a spe­cial oc­ca­sion this week.

Rock­y­ford Li­brary Art Camp 2016, runs 10 to 3 daily, March 29 through April 1. Camp is open to par­tic­i­pants be­tween the ages of 6 and 18. Each par­tic­i­pant will ex­plore Self Ex­pres­sion through self-por­traits, draw­ing, ab­stract paint­ing, mak­ing wind chimes, t-shirts, land art and cre­at­ing a group art piece. Vicki My­ers is back again this year in what prom­ises to be an­other great week. Please reg­is­ter early as space is lim­ited.

Cel­e­brate Easter with a clas­sic Dis­ney movie pre­sented by Rock­y­ford Li­brary at the com­mu­nity cen­tre on Satur­day, March 26. It’s free! Doors open at 2:30, and the film starts at 3:00. Snacks and drinks avail­able for pur­chase from the Com­mu­nity Cen­tre As­so­ci­a­tion.

Vir­tu­ally jour­ney un­der­wa­ter to meet mi­cro­scopic aquatic mon­sters. Join Rock­y­ford Li­brary for this live video-con­fer­ence on Tues­day, March 29, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Here Be Dragons! will visit the or­gan­isms that in­habit the aquatic en­vi­ron­ment of South­ern Al­berta and ex­plore some of their amaz­ing evo­lu­tion­ary adap­ta­tions.

Hope Bridges is com­ing to the Rock­y­ford Li­brary with a spe­cial pro­gram. Over a four-week pe­riod, “Draw­ing: A Study in Per­spec­tive” will guide adult par­tic­i­pants through the steps to draw us­ing per­spec­tive. Ses­sions are Thurs­days (April 7 -- 28), 7 to 9 p.m. Reg­is­ter at (403) 9833640 for one or all four evenings.

It’s time to sub­mit your cre­ative work to the li­brary for the Salute to Lo­cal Artists and Ar­ti­sans. Your sub­mis­sion will be on dis­play un­til Wed­nes­day, March 16. Cre­ative peo­ple of all ages are in­vited to par­tic­i­pate. Due to lim­ited space, please con­trib­ute a max­i­mum of three items.
