In the new year the district has many events planned. To start off the new year, two clubs from our district planned a craft for the Re­gional Fun Day on Jan­uary 9, 2016. Mor­rin Multi did sharpie mugs and Rum­sey Row­ley did neck­tie snakes. Thank you to all the Ag. So­ci­eties in our area for do­nat­ing to Fun Day, your sup­port is greatly ap­pre­ci­ated.

The district has had a few meet­ings to plan up­com­ing events. We have been to Drum to the BCF and in Fe­bru­ary we met at Luke’s in Delia. That night Yvonne Yarem­cio our new 4-H spe­cial­ist for the East Cen­tral Re­gion at­tended our meet­ing.

On March 5, 2016 District pub­lic speak­ing/ pre­sen­ta­tions were hosted by Hes­keth Orkney at the Car­bon school. Con­grat­u­la­tions to the win­ners mov­ing on to the Re­gion- al com­pe­ti­tions and to all the 4-Hers for do­ing such a great job!

Win­ners are as fol­lows: Ju­nior Pub­lic Speak­ing- 1stAubrayle Ber­dahl (Hes­keth), 2nd- Ry­ley Map­pin (Rum­sey), 3rd- Cam­ryn McDougald (Delia). In­ter­me­di­ate Pub­lic Speak­ing- 1st- Alia Nielsen (Mor­rin), 2nd - Amanda Holowath (Rum­sey), 3rd - Noel Kiemele (Rum­sey). Se­nior Pub­lic Speak­ing - 1st - Quinn Nelson (Mor­rin), 2nd - Me­sha Olsen (Mor­rin), 3rd - Brett Holowath (Rum­sey). Ju­nior Pre­sen­ta­tions - 1st - Brynnleigh Lohner (Hes­keth), 2ndBlake Stone­man (Rum­sey), 3rd - Cole Alderdice (Delia). In­ter­me­di­ate Pre­sen­ta­tions - 1stDekin Ben­son & MacCoy Still (Hes­keth), 2nd- Zayna Lynch (Mor­rin).

Win­ners move onto re­gional pub­lic speak­ing March 19 in Cas­tor and re­gional pre­sen­ta­tions March 20 in Delia.

Our lead­ers and district coun­cil mem­bers have been busy get­ting ready for this be­cause Drumheller and Dis- trict 4-H coun­cil is the host for the re­gional pre­sen­ta­tions this year. This year there are 24 pre­sen­ters com­ing to re­gion­als.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Ry­ley Map­pin for com­ing in se­cond at Re­gional pub­lic speak­ing.

Thank you to all the judges at both dis­tricts and re­gion­als. We ap­pre­ci­ate the time you give to come to our 4-H events and all the great com­ments to help us im­prove our pub­lic speak­ing.

April will be an­other busy month for the district as we have a con­sumer de­ci­sion mak­ing work­shop and judg­ing on April 3 and an ATV safety work­shop on April 23.
