I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! At Nazareth we had a wonderful worship with a visit from a real live bunny!

Attention residents: there will be an election held on April 4 at the Standard Village Office from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm for the position of Councillor. On nomination day we received two nominations and thus an election will be held. The two nominees are Elizabeth Nystrom and Brandon Duffala. If you have any questions, please give Leah Jensen a call at 644-3968.

The following is a message from candidate Brandon Duffala: “Serving on town council, for me, is about giving back to my community. Since choosing Standard as our home 5 years ago, I have been enthusiastically involved with various volunteer community projects. Most of my contributions have been associated with the Standard Municipal Library, as my wife, Adreena, is the manager there. Annually, we design and build a float representing the Standard Library for our Village Sports Day Parade. And I am proud to say we won first place last year! Another very special project is personally coordinating a visit from Santa every year for the children at the library Christmas party. Last year our Mayor, Alan Larsen, was lucky enough to receive a candy cane directly from Mr. Claus. I believe I would be an asset to Town Council by bringing new ideas, a positive approach, and a sincere dedication to keeping the Village of Standard a safe and welcoming community that we can all be proud to call home. If elected as Town Councilor, the first order of business for me, would be to learn the inner workings of the process from the experienced Council members. To be effective you need to learn why things are the way they are, in order to help support and promote continual improvement. I see Town Councils as the beating hearts of our small communities. And I can’t think of a better way to play an important role in the betterment of our society. Thank you for your vote on April 4! - Brandon Duffala, Electoral Candidate for Town Council”

The following is a message from candidate Elizabeth Nys- trom.

“Our village will be holding a by-election April 4, 2016, and I’m running for village council! Let me tell you about myself, I moved to the area after attending Olds College in 2005. I’m a firm believer in volunteering and being apart of the community. Currently I’m on the library board, beautification committee as well as the Memory Lane Park planning committee. I really enjoy living in our little village and want to do more to see us grow and thrive. On election day please come out and vote Elizabeth Nystrom for village council. Elizabeth Nystrom, Electoral Candidate for Town Council.”
