The Stettler Storm Female Midget hockey team won the provincial championship and Drumheller’s Kierra Scollo was a key to that victory.

Kierra, daughter of Carmelo and Rhonda, played much of her minor hockey in Drumheller, but finished out her midget career in Stettler.

The Storm had a great season and won zones. This qualified the team for the Provincial Midget Female B Championship tournament in Camrose March 10 -13.

Kierra shined in the spotlight and led the entire tournament in points (12) and assists (6).

The Storm dominated and had only one loss all weekend, and it came at the hands of the Lloydminster Blazers.

The Storm had a chance for redemption as they faced the Blazers in the championship. The Storm went on to win in the final 4-1. Kierra had one goal.

Mother Rhonda is proud of her daughter’s accomplishments, and says Kierra’s hockey career may not end at midget.

“She has been accepted to Red Deer College and she is going to try out for the Red Deer Queen’s,” said Rhonda.

The Stettler Storm won the Midget Female B Championship by defeating the Lloydminster Blazers. Kierra Scollo led the tournament in points and assists.
