Rumsey & District Register
What a beautiful first weekend of April. We started on the yard cleaning and pruning early this year. It really makes it easy for the calves that were born, I hope all is going well with your calving as well.
Mel and Dariel McNaughton let me know that the Trochu Senior’s facility survey are out and about. You can pick one up at the post office or at the Library. They would like them back by April 16 at the Spring Fling if possible so they can compile the information and get started on the next step. Please come and get one because without opinions, it will be difficult to proceed.
The Rumsey/Rowley 4-H Beef club will be gathering their bottles and batteries this coming weekend so you should get a call. If you don’t hear from someone from the club and you do have something to donate please give Jill and Kent Holowath a call and they will arrange for someone to stop by.
The progress on the DropIn is getting going. We have had a few quotes on the work on the roof and will settle on one soon so as to get started on that work hopefully sooner rather than later. As you have probably seen at the Post Office, Karrie has graciously agreed to take care of a donation box for the Roof Project. If you make a donation of $20 or more, I can issue a tax receipt for you. Also, a project I would like to work on, inside the building, is painting the cupboards and bathrooms to give them a clean appearance. So, since we have to devote all money towards the roof, I would like to put out a request for anyone who might have some leftover paint, neutral colors, and primer that you would like to donate. In the basement, the cement floor isn’t in the greatest shape but it is dry so if someone has a large piece of low-pile carpet or indoor outdoor carpet that we could lay down to cover the cement would be great as well. We would like to create a games area downstairs with the pool table, shuffle board and dart board for people who would rent the place.
That’s it for news this week. Have a great week, everyone.
