Plan­ning is the key to any great land­scape. Look around your yard and de­cide now if you would like to in­cor­po­rate fruits and veg­eta­bles into your land­scape. Per­haps more peren­ni­als or a kitchen gar­den near your pa­tio or door. More lawn or less lawn? A deck or pa­tio for en­ter­tain­ing? More trees? Bushes, maybe a hedge for pri­vacy?

Con­tainer gar­den­ing of­fers a va­ri­ety of choices to the home gar­dener. Maybe you are a sum­mer trav­eller and are look­ing for low main­te­nance op­tions. What­ever choice you make, April is the month to make de­ci­sions and start work­ing out­doors. Put the work in early so the sum­mer months can be en­joyed days of gar­den­ing, so­cial­iz­ing or soak­ing up the sun.
