The Drumheller RCMP, working with the Airdrie RCMP and Calgary Police Service were able to make an arrest in a counterfeit currency case.

Michael Zero, 32 made a brief appearance in provincial court in Drumheller on Friday April 8, via closed circuit television. He was charged with passing counterfeit currency.

It is alleged that a suspect passed approximately $160 of currency at a local business on March 20.

This case is linked with cases in Calgary and Airdrie. Corporal Rod Guthrie says they were able to identify the bills through serial number.

“It came together pretty quickly,” said Guthrie.

Zero, and Jenna McArthur, 31 were accused in Airdrie of between January and March of 2016, passing counterfeit American currency in local businesses.

They are each facing eight charges. Zero is scheduled to appear in court in Airdrie on April 21.
