The Rockyford Lions Club is once again giv­ing a $1000. schol­ar­ship to a 2016 high school grad­u­ate that plans on a post sec­ondary ed­u­ca­tion. Please con­tact Randy Melcher for your ap­pli­ca­tion form. Dead­line will be Septem­ber 30, 2016. Grad­u­ates must live in Rockyford.

St. Rita’s Par­ish will be of­fer­ing First Com­mu­nion Classes to all el­i­gi­ble chil­dren, grades 1,2 and 3 or any­one who has not al­ready re­ceived the sacra­ment. Please con­tact ei­ther Tracy Rehlau or Larry Kathol by April 13 if you are in­ter­ested.

The Rose­bud Choir will host a fundrais­ing Con­cert in St. Rita’s Church on April 24, at 3:00 PM. This fundraiser Is for the sup­port of a Syr­ian Fam­ily liv­ing in Strath­more, they are be­ing spon­sored by the Hope Covenant Church. There will be a freewill of­fer­ing and tax re­ceipts will be made avail­able.

Na­tional Vol­un­teer Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Week is April 10 to 16. Rockyford Li­brary salutes all of those peo­ple who en­rich life in our com­mu­nity by vol­un­teer­ing. In par­tic­u­lar, we thank our li­brary board mem­bers for the time and ef­fort they ded­i­cate to mak­ing our li­brary an ac­tive mem­ber of our com­mu­nity. We are grate­ful to those vol­un­teers who at­tend the li­brary weekly to as­sist in our oper­a­tions: Joyce Gor­don and Jo­ce­lyn Thomp­son. And we are ap­pre­cia­tive of the time and ef­fort do­nated by oth­ers, whose con­tri­bu­tions al­low us to be a place that of­fers more than just books.

Quick­draw An­i­ma­tion So- ci­ety re­turns to the Rockyford Li­brary for Pix­i­la­tion, a one­day stop-mo­tion an­i­ma­tion work­shop for any­one be­tween the ages of 8 and 18. The pro­gram runs on Satur­day, April 30, be­tween 10:00 and 4:30. Reg­is­ter now. It’s free!

Join us at the Rockyford Li­brary for a free video-con­fer­ence about Grow­ing Food on Wed­nes­day, May 4, from 7:00 un­til 8:30 p.m. This ses­sion is pre­sented by four lo­cal Leth­bridge groups that will share prac­tices and tips for grow­ing food in South­west Al­berta. Top­ics will in­clude sus­tain­abil­ity, af­ford­abil­ity, small space gar­dens, and grow­ing in al­ter­nate spa­ces like school class­rooms.

Get ready to ex­plore an En­chanted Reef when Sci­ence in Mo­tion comes to the Rockyford Li­brary on Tues­day, May 3, be­tween 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. Ex­pe­ri­ence the film Kalu­oka’Hina -- The En­chanted Reef in a full-dome mo­bile theatre. Build a co­ral model with LEGO. See stun­ning images of co­ral reef life. Ex­plore the ocean box. En­joy fun and chal­leng­ing Sci­ence Brain­teasers. This event is suitable for the whole fam­ily. Sci­ence in Mo­tion is an outreach team sup­ported by the Telus World of Sci­ence (Ed­mon­ton) to serve com­mu­ni­ties across Al­berta.

Ses­sions at the Rockyford Li­brary for Draw­ing: A Study in Per­spec­tive have be­gun. There are three ses­sions left that you can reg­is­ter for: April 14/21/28. Ses­sions are on Thurs­day evenings and run from 7 to 9. Par­tic­i­pate in one ses­sion or all of them.
