Monday Internet outage affects Drumheller customers
Many residents throughout the area Monday lost connection with the Internet.
Shortly after noon many residents and businesses were without their Internet connection. While some were inconvenienced by not being able to partake in social media chatter, others saw their work load grind to a standstill.
The outage affected Xplor- net, Bell, Rogers, Shaw, Axia, Netago, Reality Bytes, Aerial Internet Service. In the area of 10,000 customers affected by the outage.
The Mail has learned from John Shoff of Reality Bytes that an accident may have caused multiple fibre optic cables to be severed in the Strathmore area.
Shortly before 10 p.m., a temporary span has been put in place restoring service to the area.
For some it was a minor inconvenience, for other work was slowed by an Internet outage on Monday afternoon and into the evening. A break in fiber optic lines near Strathmore caused an outage affecting local customers.
