Five mi­nor hockey play­ers to play through­out Scan­di­navia this sum­mer

Five area hockey play­ers will have a hockey trip to re­mem­ber this sum­mer when they fly out for a hockey de­vel­op­ment ex­pe­ri­ence in Scan­di­navia.

Drumheller Mi­nor Hockey play­ers Ash­ton Nail, Cody Hodge, Spencer James, Tyler Fer­gu­son, and Cort Cas­ton- guay and their fam­ily mem­bers will travel to Swe­den, Fin­land, and Es­to­nia to play hockey against lo­cal squads there while also tak­ing in the sites and cul­ture of Scan­di­navia.

“It’s more of a trip for the ex­pe­ri­ence with some hockey in­volved,” says par­ent Wendy Nail. “It’s leisurely, it’s planned and al­ready set up with a lit­tle move­ment see­ing.”

The tour is booked through Top Guns, a hockey de­vel­op­ment com­pany which of­fers play­ers the chance to de­velop their skills in for­eign coun­tries while also em­pha­siz­ing the ex­pe­ri­en­tial as­pects of travel.

Be­fore fly­ing to Stock­holm on July 30, play­ers will meet in Can­more with other groups in there for site- from both else­where in Al­berta and Saskatchewan to prac­tice be­fore the 10 day itin­er­ary, full of skir­mishes with lo­cal squads and a travel sched­ule which will have the play­ers feel­ing like pro­fes­sional hockey play­ers.

It’ll be a great new ex­pe­ri­ence to see some other coun­tries. I’m look­ing for­ward to see­ing some other cul­tures.”
