Dan Snydmiller and Sherri Sage traveled to sunny Cabo San Luca, Mexico to tie the knot!! They were accompanied by their families Erica and Mitch Thew, Jessica Sage and Scott Douglass, Danielle Sage and Ben Sorenson, Cole and Lauren Snydmiller as well as some close friends Glenn and Leanne Muller, Addison Muller, Jodi and Wendell Christensen, Laura Dale Heberling and her partner Glenn. The wedding took place on Monday, March 28 at 2pm. It was a beautiful setting right on the beach with the sun shining brightly over the ceremony! Sherri looked very beautiful and carried a bouquet of bird of paradise, Dan looked very handsome! After the short but sweet ceremony there were pictures on the beach followed by champagne and visiting. The day was completed with a lovely steak and lobster reception with a beautiful cake and some fun dancing at the Disco! A great time was had by all and the happy couple was able to stay on a few extra days!
On Wednesday, April 6, Pam Collett, Tara Sandum, Mrs. Flkohazy and her Grade 3 and 4 class attended Aggie Days at the Stampede Grounds in Calgary. Students were able to be up close to many different farm animals, walk through a teepee, see how a cow is milked, watched Native drumming and dancing, and learned many facts about agriculture thoughout the day.
Paige Chapman from Bassano, Kali Collett, Riley Armstrong, Kylie Bishop from Hussar and Maggie Kosterewa from Strathmore represented the Hussar Fine Arts Dance program in The Catch a Rising Star dance competition from April 8-10. There were two solos, a duet and a group number in the styles of lyrical, jazz and musical theatre. High gold, gold, high silver and silver were awarded to the girls! It was so nice to see competitors from Hussar in a dance competition as its been 17 years since we’ve had a competition entry! The girls danced and sang their way into competitive glory! Special thanks to the instructors for all their hard work! You all did Hussar proud!
Marvin and Cheryl Fisher attended their granddaughter Tamara’s dance festival in Medicine Hat on April 14 and 15. From there, they went to Acadia Valley to celebrate their grandson CJ’s 18th birthday, on Saturday.
Carey Taubert attended the Alberta Central Credit Union Conference in Edmonton, April 13 – 15.
The Hussar/Bassano Atom and PeeWee teams held their wind up at Rob and Tammy Miller`s near Bassano on Saturday, April 16. There was a delicious potluck supper and the kids were able to entertain themselves with baseball, games and animals! The weather was just perfect for an aftenoon of visiting and an evening having hot dogs around a campfire. Thank yous were given to the coaches and managers for making this another great season for hockey.
Catherine and Camden Hager, Michelle Brown, Kali Collett and Raina Harwood were baptized at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, in Hussar on Sunday, April 17.
For those of you who are doing their spring cleaning, remember the school is still collecting pop tabs and Camp- bell Soup labels. Compared to last year less than half the amount of tabs have been collected.
Hussar Safe Transport will be having a bottle drive during the week prior to April 23. If you have bottles you would like to donate or questions please contact Rhonda Treacy. Bottles may be dropped off at Kristen and Russell Fandry`s prior to 10 am Saturday, April 23. The kids and their families thank everyone for their support.
Youth Archery is back. Once again, the Hussar Fish and Game Club will be offering youth archery for those aged 8-18 at the Gun Club on Tuesday after school from 4:005:15 pm. We will start on Tuesday, April 26 and continue to June 21. The club generously supplies the equipment although if you have your own, you are encouraged to bring it. To register or if you have any additional questions, please contact Russ/Linda Thompson at 403-787-2257 prior to April 21 so we have an idea of numbers. Registration forms are also available at Hussar School.
Hussar Dance Club would like to invite everyone to their year end recital on April 28 at 6 pm at the Hussar Community Hall. Everyone is welcome and donations will be accepted at the door.
On Monday, May 2, FCSS is providing Grief Counsellors from Alberta Health, at the Sundowners Centre from 1:30 – 4 PM. This is open to anyone who would like to attend.
There will be a Mother’s Day Tea held at the Sundowners on Saturday, May 7, with local entertainment. Everyone is welcome to attend.

There will be available soon the opportunity for people to take a 9 module session on Caregivers. Some of the things we hope to answer are: - are you a caregiver? - how do you cope? - do you need help? - are you aware of services out there in your community to help
These sessions will be held in your area as soon as training is done and it can be arranged. These sessions will be well advertised, when they are available. EMERGENCY SERVICES TABLE TOP DISCUSSION
Our meeting was held on March 29, 2016 with 8 persons attending. The idea was to formulate a plan in case there is an emergency situation and that we would be prepared and take appropriate actions. Several items were discussed and we are in the process of implementing some as we speak. In emergency situations, preparedness goes a long way in saving life and property.
The Hussar Historical Society is starting the next stage in getting our history book ready to print. We are starting to edit stories and get them saved under the right format. This means that we are still accepting stories even a little after our final due date. I know it seems like we may be saying this over and over again, but we want to make sure everyone gets their story in so we can make it up to date for everyone. Friends of East Wheatland are looking for farmers! We have the seed and we have the chemical but we need farmers to plant 10 acres of canola for the new school. The farmer will get a tax receipt for the difference of their donated revenue and the inputs received from FEW.
