Dan Sny­d­miller and Sherri Sage trav­eled to sunny Cabo San Luca, Mex­ico to tie the knot!! They were ac­com­pa­nied by their fam­i­lies Erica and Mitch Thew, Jes­sica Sage and Scott Dou­glass, Danielle Sage and Ben Soren­son, Cole and Lau­ren Sny­d­miller as well as some close friends Glenn and Leanne Muller, Ad­di­son Muller, Jodi and Wen­dell Chris­tensen, Laura Dale He­ber­ling and her part­ner Glenn. The wed­ding took place on Mon­day, March 28 at 2pm. It was a beau­ti­ful set­ting right on the beach with the sun shin­ing brightly over the cer­e­mony! Sherri looked very beau­ti­ful and car­ried a bou­quet of bird of par­adise, Dan looked very hand­some! Af­ter the short but sweet cer­e­mony there were pic­tures on the beach fol­lowed by cham­pagne and vis­it­ing. The day was com­pleted with a lovely steak and lob­ster re­cep­tion with a beau­ti­ful cake and some fun danc­ing at the Disco! A great time was had by all and the happy cou­ple was able to stay on a few ex­tra days!

On Wed­nes­day, April 6, Pam Col­lett, Tara San­dum, Mrs. Flko­hazy and her Grade 3 and 4 class at­tended Ag­gie Days at the Stam­pede Grounds in Cal­gary. Stu­dents were able to be up close to many dif­fer­ent farm an­i­mals, walk through a teepee, see how a cow is milked, watched Na­tive drum­ming and danc­ing, and learned many facts about agri­cul­ture though­out the day.

Paige Chap­man from Bas­sano, Kali Col­lett, Ri­ley Arm­strong, Kylie Bishop from Hus­sar and Mag­gie Kosterewa from Strath­more rep­re­sented the Hus­sar Fine Arts Dance pro­gram in The Catch a Ris­ing Star dance com­pe­ti­tion from April 8-10. There were two so­los, a duet and a group num­ber in the styles of lyri­cal, jazz and mu­si­cal theatre. High gold, gold, high sil­ver and sil­ver were awarded to the girls! It was so nice to see com­peti­tors from Hus­sar in a dance com­pe­ti­tion as its been 17 years since we’ve had a com­pe­ti­tion en­try! The girls danced and sang their way into com­pet­i­tive glory! Spe­cial thanks to the in­struc­tors for all their hard work! You all did Hus­sar proud!

Marvin and Ch­eryl Fisher at­tended their grand­daugh­ter Ta­mara’s dance fes­ti­val in Medicine Hat on April 14 and 15. From there, they went to Aca­dia Val­ley to cel­e­brate their grand­son CJ’s 18th birth­day, on Satur­day.

Carey Taubert at­tended the Al­berta Cen­tral Credit Union Con­fer­ence in Ed­mon­ton, April 13 – 15.

The Hus­sar/Bas­sano Atom and Pee­Wee teams held their wind up at Rob and Tammy Miller`s near Bas­sano on Satur­day, April 16. There was a de­li­cious potluck sup­per and the kids were able to en­ter­tain them­selves with base­ball, games and an­i­mals! The weather was just per­fect for an af­tenoon of vis­it­ing and an evening hav­ing hot dogs around a camp­fire. Thank yous were given to the coaches and man­agers for mak­ing this an­other great sea­son for hockey.

Cather­ine and Cam­den Hager, Michelle Brown, Kali Col­lett and Raina Har­wood were bap­tized at Our Sav­iors Lutheran Church, in Hus­sar on Sun­day, April 17.

For those of you who are do­ing their spring clean­ing, re­mem­ber the school is still col­lect­ing pop tabs and Camp- bell Soup la­bels. Com­pared to last year less than half the amount of tabs have been col­lected.

Hus­sar Safe Trans­port will be hav­ing a bot­tle drive dur­ing the week prior to April 23. If you have bot­tles you would like to do­nate or ques­tions please con­tact Rhonda Treacy. Bot­tles may be dropped off at Kris­ten and Rus­sell Fandry`s prior to 10 am Satur­day, April 23. The kids and their fam­i­lies thank ev­ery­one for their sup­port.

Youth Archery is back. Once again, the Hus­sar Fish and Game Club will be of­fer­ing youth archery for those aged 8-18 at the Gun Club on Tues­day af­ter school from 4:005:15 pm. We will start on Tues­day, April 26 and con­tinue to June 21. The club gen­er­ously sup­plies the equip­ment although if you have your own, you are en­cour­aged to bring it. To reg­is­ter or if you have any ad­di­tional ques­tions, please con­tact Russ/Linda Thomp­son at 403-787-2257 prior to April 21 so we have an idea of num­bers. Reg­is­tra­tion forms are also avail­able at Hus­sar School.

Hus­sar Dance Club would like to in­vite ev­ery­one to their year end recital on April 28 at 6 pm at the Hus­sar Com­mu­nity Hall. Ev­ery­one is wel­come and do­na­tions will be ac­cepted at the door.

On Mon­day, May 2, FCSS is pro­vid­ing Grief Coun­sel­lors from Al­berta Health, at the Sun­down­ers Cen­tre from 1:30 – 4 PM. This is open to any­one who would like to at­tend.

There will be a Mother’s Day Tea held at the Sun­down­ers on Satur­day, May 7, with lo­cal en­ter­tain­ment. Ev­ery­one is wel­come to at­tend.

There will be avail­able soon the op­por­tu­nity for peo­ple to take a 9 mod­ule ses­sion on Care­givers. Some of the things we hope to an­swer are: - are you a care­giver? - how do you cope? - do you need help? - are you aware of ser­vices out there in your com­mu­nity to help

Th­ese ses­sions will be held in your area as soon as train­ing is done and it can be ar­ranged. Th­ese ses­sions will be well ad­ver­tised, when they are avail­able. EMER­GENCY SER­VICES TA­BLE TOP DIS­CUS­SION

Our meet­ing was held on March 29, 2016 with 8 per­sons at­tend­ing. The idea was to for­mu­late a plan in case there is an emer­gency sit­u­a­tion and that we would be pre­pared and take ap­pro­pri­ate ac­tions. Sev­eral items were dis­cussed and we are in the process of im­ple­ment­ing some as we speak. In emer­gency sit­u­a­tions, pre­pared­ness goes a long way in sav­ing life and prop­erty.

The Hus­sar His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety is start­ing the next stage in get­ting our his­tory book ready to print. We are start­ing to edit sto­ries and get them saved un­der the right for­mat. This means that we are still ac­cept­ing sto­ries even a lit­tle af­ter our fi­nal due date. I know it seems like we may be say­ing this over and over again, but we want to make sure ev­ery­one gets their story in so we can make it up to date for ev­ery­one. Friends of East Wheat­land are look­ing for farm­ers! We have the seed and we have the chem­i­cal but we need farm­ers to plant 10 acres of canola for the new school. The farmer will get a tax re­ceipt for the dif­fer­ence of their do­nated rev­enue and the in­puts re­ceived from FEW.
