On Monday Drumheller town council approved a supplier for a new pool cladding material to be installed at the Aquaplex.

The flooring will allow easier cleaning and maintenance of the pool basin, with cleaning of this new flooring estimated to save at least 10 days of pool closures a year. It will also pro- vide a shallower entry into the pool.

The material is easier to clean in place and the liner does not require painting. The town hopes the ease of this new material will provide savings over the lifetime of the pool basin. The expected life of the new basin is 15-25 years.

The supplier contract was awarded to NCA Aquatics at $775,000 which was approved in the 2016 Capital Budget.

The material is being manufactured in Italy and expected to arrive in the first two weeks of September, with installation tenders to be put out as soon as a design proposal is provided by NCA Aquatics in a few weeks.
