Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills….what beautiful weather we have been having over the course of the week. A little wind but everything is looking green and the dust is at a minimum thanks to the past snow and rain. Could it really be Spring?
And they are off; the Cosgrave/Profit Chuckwagon Team has a new member. Harper Rose was born on Thursday, April 28 and already has her Dad’s reins all wrapped up. Mom, Charleigh, is doing great. Grandma Tara has another Cosgrave to cheer on. First time grandparents, Grant and Shelley Profit, will enjoy this newest arrival to the fullest. Great Grandma Bernice Cosgrave can watch this generation of Cosgrave’s grow and grow. Great Uncle Ronnie and wife Dalene got in some cuddles as well. Brother Chad and his wife Lacey made the trip from Brandt to meet the newest Cosgrave. Charleigh’s Family came to the Hills to meet and enjoy the new bundle of joy. What an exciting time on the Cosgrave/Profit Track!
The Hand Hills is sending well wishes to John Rew as he is in recovery after Cancer Treatments. John always steps up to the plate for the community and now it is our turn to step up for him. Speedy recovery John! I also heard that Betty Rew was feeling a little under the weather so Get Well Wishes to her as well.
Plans are really gearing up for the 100th. The Stampede still needs volunteers and anyone that volunteers get $25 in Hand Hills Bucks as a payback. Sign up to work some shifts now! If you have any spare time this month I am sure there will be something happening at the grounds that could use your expertise.
Are you all geared up for all of the entertainment that is going to be happening at the Stampede? Ash Cooper in the arena, the Mounted Shooters’ on Friday night, the Calgary Show Riders on Saturday, Drew Gregory and the Cat Country Band will be on Stage as well as the Bixby and 5 of Diamonds. Come to the Heritage Tent on Saturday afternoon and enjoy the music of Don Howard and Band, all the while visiting with old friends. Something really new and exciting to entertain you is the Wild Pony Race after the Rodeo on both Saturday and Sunday. These little cowboys and cowgirls will show you true grit and determination. The Parade will be exciting as will be the fireworks on Saturday night. The Trade Fair is open all weekend in the Clubhouse and you can entertain your shopping habits at this venue. The “full bar” Beer Gardens is something new this year and will be a delight to those that are not true blue beer drinkers. Come enjoy a drink with friends! The bouncy castles will be back to entertain the kids and will be open on both Saturday and Sunday. On top of all of this there is the Rodeo. You are sure to find something to do all weekend long at the 100th. The gate will be open from Wednesday on. Be sure to check out our website at www.handhills.a.b.ca See you at the Stampede.
Till next week…the countdown is on for the 100th! Get involved and let’s put on a Stampede that will be talked about for a long time!
