Remember the Pancake Breakfast, sponsored by the Delia Elks, at the Community Centre on Sunday morning, May 8, from nine until noon. This is the Mother’s Day Pancake Breakfast, so make it a special morning, take Mom out for pancakes at the Community Centre. Later on in the early afternoon on Sunday, it will be time to wish Charlie Thompson a happy 90th Birthday at the Delia Drop In Centre. Come for cake and coffee from 2 to 4 on Sunday, May 8, to help Charlie celebrate being 90 years young. No gifts please.
The general meeting at the Drop In Centre will be held Thursday, May 12, at 10 in the morning. Come and hear what is happening at the Drop In. On Thursday, May 19, representatives from the Alberta Council of Aging will give a presentation at the Drop In Centre. This presentation should be of interest to anyone who is a senior, or to anyone who is involved in caring for senior people. Come and hear what help is available to seniors, or let them know what help you would like to see available to seniors. Remember; although you may still be young, someday you will be a senior citizen. What will you want available in your life? Make your voice heard. That is also the day of the Pot Luck Lunch at the Drop In. Come for the presentation and stay for lunch.
Monday, April 25, was the last day of curling for the Endmoor Floor Curling Club for this season. We wound up the season with some fun floor curling plus a very enjoyable lunch at Ruthie’s Roost. Special thanks to Eleanor and Ken Schultz for all their hard work and organizational skills that make it possible for the rest of us to enjoy the games at Endiang. Hope to see you all again in the fall!
The Delia Library will hold their annual garage sale on May 28 from 9 to 1 p.m. Donations to the sale are very welcome and can be dropped off two weeks before the sale. Call Judy at 403 364 2802.
Spring Library Book Fair –The goal for this Spring’s Book Fair was to have purchased a book for every student in our school and we shattered that goal. $1020 in books were kept to put into our library, 16 books were donated to Delia Classroom libraries by students and parents. $60 in prizes were distributed to student winners. The Family Event door prize winner was Chase Ollen. He won $50 in free books for his family and his classroom.
The Delia Library is hosting a Family Book Club in May, and are asking families to read a book together for the month and this month’s selection is “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Families participating will have their names entered for a draw.
On Saturday, May 7, there will be a proper tree and shrub pruning for homeowners from 9 a.m –12 p.m at the Delia Library – free. This workshop will cover the what, where, when and how of pruning trees and shrubs, starting with three hours of classroom instruction suitable for both new pruners and those with a solid foundation looking to improve their skills. Call the library at 403 364 3777 to reserve your spot for this workshop.
Also on Saturday, May 7, from 1:30 – 4:30 at the Delia Library – Introduction to 3D Design and 3D Printer Certification Workshop – Free. Pre register by Thursday, May 5 to reserve your spot. Learn to design simple 3D objects and prepare them for printing. Design your own or download ready to print designs from websites such as Thingiverse and others. Also, during the last hour of the workshop learn the basics on how to use the Delia Library 3D printer and obtain your printer certification to use the 3D printer.
Makerspace at your library-: May 5-games at lunch. May 10 –adventures in Yarn –learn to hand knit – 7-8:30 p.m.
