The Drumheller Mail - - AROUND TOWN - Emily Hollingshead

We have one more travel night planned before summer, and it’s a big one! Brock Harrington will be sharing stories and pictures from his travels in southern Africa, Sri Lanka, India, and Southeast Asia! Mark your calendar and join us from 6:30 – 8 pm on Tuesday, May 17.

The library has lots of other resources for planning a trip, or just daydreaming about travelling the world, both in our travel section and among our non-fiction DVDs. You know that travel guides aren’t the only way to explore the world with books, though, if you came to our last travel night, you heard me talk about all the novels that made me want to go to Great Britain, but there are stacks of books out there waiting to give you glimpses into other places and cultures. If you like mysteries, check out Laurie R. King’s Mary Russell series, which follows a retired Sherlock Holmes and his partner all over the world just after the First World War. If you’re interested in Africa, try Chimamanda Ngozie Adichie’s novels, or introduce your children to Atinuke’s Anna Hibiscus books. Curious about India? Try Arundhati Roy or Salman Rushdie. Even better, ask our staff for something specific, or pull up NoveList through our website, tell it where you’d like to read about, and let it bring you a whole list of suggestions!

For more information on programs, events and services at the library, visit our website at www.drumhellerlibrary.ca, or call us at 403823-1371. We’re also on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest!
