Orkney Oracle

This week’s news has lots of special Mother’s Day events that went on over the weekend. On Saturday, the young ladies of Orkney had a tea at the Centre for the moms which I’m told was very nice.

The Bell family were in Strathmore on Sunday for supper with Kathy’s parents. The Wahl’s recently moved there and are enjoying life - a nice place to live.

On Sunday I had Rick and Sandy from Bieseker and Meaghan, Brayden and her boys, Jack and Cooper, from Airdrie here for lunch, which they brought. It doesn’t get much better, does it? Later on Sunday afternoon I joined the Eremko family for a combined Mother’s Day and birthday dinner. Dennis and Stasha and the crew had a great supper.

Monday, my daughter, Laurie Keichinger, and Ken came from Lamont and took me out for a nice lunch and visit so I was treated very well. I enjoyed it!

This is an early headsup to mark your calendar for May 23 at the Centre. Starting at 4:30 p.m., there is going to be a community shower for Taylor Mueller and Wes Kashuba. This is a wiener roast event and the food will be provided but you bring your own lawn chairs. This is for guys as well as girls so don’t be shy about coming. Wes and Taylor are being married in July and they are wished many years together.

It certainly would be nice if these scattered showers that are in the forecast would do more than scatter! A nice, gentle three day rain with no wind would be so refreshing, not just for the land but for the humans too. We can wish.

When you go to bed each night ask the good Lord to look kindly on the folks from Ft. Mac and give thanks for what you have.
