Toxic Waste round-up in Star­land be­gins

Star­land res­i­dents have an op­por­tu­nity to clean up their homes and yards and make them safer at the Star­land County Toxic Waste Round-up. On Fri­day June 3, res­i­dents have the op­por­tu­nity to drop off un­wanted chem­i­cals at the Pub­lic Works Yard in Delia. Some of the items ac­cepted in­clude cor­ro­sives such as rust re­movers, waste acids, au­to­mo­tive and house­hold bat­ter­ies and clean­ers. Flammable items are also ac­cepted such as oil­based paint, sol­vents and de­greasers, wood preser­va­tives and gaso­line. Poi­sonous items such as out­dated phar­ma­ceu­ti­cals, ant, ro­dent and weed killers, pho­to­graphic chem­i­cals and an­tifreeze are ac­cepted as well as re­ac­tives such as waste bleach aerosols and uniden­ti­fied chem­i­cal. The Round-up also in­cludes e-waste such as tele­vi­sions, elec­tri­cal and com­puter equip­ment.
