Drumheller Chrysler buys Hus­sar Grand Cham­pion

Once again, top dol­lar was paid at the Hus­sar 4-H Beef Club Show and Sale, and it's no won­der be­cause there isn’t any­thing bet­ter than Al­berta 4-H Beef.

The club held its an­nual show and sale on Sun­day, May 29 and fea­tured 37 top qual­ity an­i­mals raised by club mem­bers.

Erin Slemko won the over­all Grand Cham­pion with her 1,560 pound Sim­men­tal calf, pur­chased by Drumheller Chrysler for $3.20 per pound.

The Re­serve Cham­pion was raised by Brody Hale. His 1,398-pound Black An­gus was sold to Wester­gard Ford for $3.00 per pound.

Over­all, the av­er­age sale price was $2.82 per pound. This year’s fundraiser calf was sold to Ward Tire for $2.70 per pound. The pro­ceeds of the sale of the fundraiser calf went to the Hus­sar Fire As­so­ci­a­tion to pur­chase a new fire truck.

The an­i­mals were ex­pertly ad­ju­di­cated at the show by con­for­ma­tion judges Kyle and Jace­lyn O’Neill, groom­ing judge Quinci Jones and show­man­ship judge Brenda Wise.

Erin Slemko was also In­ter­me­di­ate Groom­ing Cham­pion and Con­for­ma­tion Cham­pion, and Grand Con­for­ma­tion Champ.

Brody Hale won Ju­nior Con­for­ma­tion Champ and Grand Con­for­ma­tion Re­serve.

Wy­att Matile won Se­nior Cham­pion as well as Se­nior Show­man­ship Cham­pion, Se­nior Con­for­ma­tion Cham­pion and Grand Show­man­ship Cham­pion.

Eric San­dum was In­ter­me­di­ate Re­serve Cham­pion, tak­ing home In­ter­me­di­ate Groom­ing Re­serve, and In­ter­me­di­ate Con­for­ma­tion Re­serve.

Tate Yule was Ju­nior Re­serve Cham­pion and he took home Ju­nior Show­man­ship Cham­pion, Ju­nior Groom­ing Re­serve, Ju­nior Con­for­ma­tion Re­serve, Grand Groom­ing Re­serve and Grand Show­man­ship Re­serve.

Pay­den Kaiser was Se­nior Re­serve Cham­pion and was also awarded Se­nior Groom­ing Re­serve.

Mary San­dum took home Ju­nior groom­ing Cham­pion and Ju­nior Show­man­ship Re­serve. Kayla San­dum won Grand Groom­ing Cham­pion, and Se­nior Groom­ing Cham­pion. Dex­ter Hale won In­ter­me­di­ate Show­man­ship Cham­pion, Everett Bishop won In­ter­me­di­ate Show­man­ship Re­serve and Jour­dan Sam­mons won Se­nior Show­man­ship Re­serve.

The club will be hold­ing its Ap­pre­ci­a­tion night on Wed­nes­day, June 29.
