The Hussar 4-H Beef Club held their Show & Sale on Sunday May 29. The Market Steer Show was at 10 am, Heifer Club Show at 2:30 pm and Auction of the Market Steers at 3 pm. Congratulations to Erin Slemko for winning Overall Grand Champion with her 1560 lb Simmental calf and Brody Hale won Reserve Champion with his 1398 lb Black Angus calf. Grand Grooming award went to Kayla Sandum with Tate Yule as Reserve. Grand Showmanship award went to Wyatt Matile with Tate Yule as Reserve.
There were 35 calves in the sale plus the club fundraiser calf. The club was very proud to donate the proceeds of the fundraiser calf to the Hussar Fire Association to help fund the fire truck! The average sale purchase price was $2.82/ lb. The Hussar 4-H Sale Associa- tion wish to thank the buyers and all those helping for making the sale such a success!

Congratulations to the graduates of 2016 from Hussar who celebrated this past weekend! Nathan Sandum graduated from DVSS and Jason Hobson & Emma Kauenhofen graduated from Strathmore High. The community wishes you all the very best in your future endeavours!
The CMJHS went on an Eastern Canada trip from May 1420. The Hussar kids on the trip were Bailey Filkohazy, Emma Armstrong, Eric Sandum and Larissa Hiebert. They arrived in Hamilton to visit to the Locks at St. Catherines and Niagara Falls. That night was spent at the Boys & Girls Club in Hamilton. Day 2 they visited the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium and the Hockey Hall of Fame then boarded a train to head to Ottawa. Day 3 they visited the Canadian War Museum and the “Diefenbunker”. Day 4 they toured the Parliament and went to the National Art Gallery and Rideau Hall and then sat in on Question Period. Day 5 they headed out to a Maple Sugar Shack in Rigaurd, Quebec and then to Old Montreal to tour the Notre Dame Basilica. Day 6 they went to Quebec City and toured La Citadelle (an old stone fort) and toured the streets of Old Quebec. The last night they stayed at McGill University in Montreal.
The community sends their deepest sympathy to Mike & Tracy Anderson on the loss of Mike’s mom, Sharon. Also our condolences to the Marilyn Hastie family on the loss of Marilyn’s mom, Edna Pennock. The funeral was May 30 in Elnora.
Congratulations to Ella Hein on her 90th birthday open house on May 28 at the Drumheller Sunshine Lodge. The open house was from 2-4pm. It was so nice for grandma to see so many people attend. The family took professional pictures at 4pm and then went to Athens Greek Restaurant for supper. The night ended at the Last Chance Saloon in Wayne for a surprise engagement party for cousin Lindsey Thevenaz and her fiancée Brian.
Hussar Skating Club Registration and Annual General Meeting was Tues May 31. For hockey registration contact Pam Collett, ringette registration is Jeadene Gregory and skating registration is MaryAnn Oxtoby. All ages are welcome to register.
Arlena Baxter, daughter of George and the late Karen Baxter, is getting married in Utah on June 16, 2016. In lieu of a bridal shower, we will be collecting money on a bridal shower list at the Hussar Credit Union and forward it to Arlena and her husband to be, Brett Lybbert.
The Hussar Cemetery Cleanup is June 6 at 5 pm. Any help would be welcome!
