The Hus­sar 4-H Beef Club held their Show & Sale on Sun­day May 29. The Mar­ket Steer Show was at 10 am, Heifer Club Show at 2:30 pm and Auc­tion of the Mar­ket Steers at 3 pm. Con­grat­u­la­tions to Erin Slemko for win­ning Over­all Grand Cham­pion with her 1560 lb Sim­men­tal calf and Brody Hale won Re­serve Cham­pion with his 1398 lb Black An­gus calf. Grand Groom­ing award went to Kayla San­dum with Tate Yule as Re­serve. Grand Show­man­ship award went to Wy­att Matile with Tate Yule as Re­serve.

There were 35 calves in the sale plus the club fundraiser calf. The club was very proud to do­nate the pro­ceeds of the fundraiser calf to the Hus­sar Fire As­so­ci­a­tion to help fund the fire truck! The av­er­age sale pur­chase price was $2.82/ lb. The Hus­sar 4-H Sale As­so­cia- tion wish to thank the buy­ers and all those help­ing for mak­ing the sale such a suc­cess!

The Hus­sar 4-H Club will be hold­ing their Ap­pre­ci­a­tion Night on Wed­nes­day June 29. The buy­ers & award donors are in­vited to come join the club for sup­per and award pre­sen­ta­tions. Please RVSP to Wendy Nail at 787-2236 or Carey Taubert at 787-3500.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to the grad­u­ates of 2016 from Hus­sar who cel­e­brated this past week­end! Nathan San­dum grad­u­ated from DVSS and Ja­son Hob­son & Emma Kauen­hofen grad­u­ated from Strath­more High. The com­mu­nity wishes you all the very best in your fu­ture en­deav­ours!

The CMJHS went on an Eastern Canada trip from May 1420. The Hus­sar kids on the trip were Bai­ley Filko­hazy, Emma Arm­strong, Eric San­dum and Larissa Hiebert. They ar­rived in Hamil­ton to visit to the Locks at St. Cather­ines and Ni­a­gara Falls. That night was spent at the Boys & Girls Club in Hamil­ton. Day 2 they vis­ited the CN Tower, Ri­p­ley’s Aquar­ium and the Hockey Hall of Fame then boarded a train to head to Ot­tawa. Day 3 they vis­ited the Cana­dian War Mu­seum and the “Diefen­bunker”. Day 4 they toured the Par­lia­ment and went to the Na­tional Art Gallery and Rideau Hall and then sat in on Ques­tion Pe­riod. Day 5 they headed out to a Maple Sugar Shack in Ri­gaurd, Que­bec and then to Old Mon­treal to tour the Notre Dame Basil­ica. Day 6 they went to Que­bec City and toured La Ci­tadelle (an old stone fort) and toured the streets of Old Que­bec. The last night they stayed at McGill Univer­sity in Mon­treal.

The com­mu­nity sends their deep­est sym­pa­thy to Mike & Tracy An­der­son on the loss of Mike’s mom, Sharon. Also our con­do­lences to the Mar­i­lyn Hastie fam­ily on the loss of Mar­i­lyn’s mom, Edna Pen­nock. The funeral was May 30 in El­nora.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Ella Hein on her 90th birth­day open house on May 28 at the Drumheller Sun­shine Lodge. The open house was from 2-4pm. It was so nice for grandma to see so many peo­ple at­tend. The fam­ily took pro­fes­sional pic­tures at 4pm and then went to Athens Greek Restau­rant for sup­per. The night ended at the Last Chance Sa­loon in Wayne for a sur­prise en­gage­ment party for cousin Lind­sey Theve­naz and her fi­ancée Brian.

Hus­sar Skat­ing Club Reg­is­tra­tion and An­nual Gen­eral Meet­ing was Tues May 31. For hockey reg­is­tra­tion con­tact Pam Col­lett, ringette reg­is­tra­tion is Jead­ene Gre­gory and skat­ing reg­is­tra­tion is MaryAnn Ox­toby. All ages are wel­come to regis­ter.

Ar­lena Bax­ter, daugh­ter of George and the late Karen Bax­ter, is get­ting mar­ried in Utah on June 16, 2016. In lieu of a bridal shower, we will be col­lect­ing money on a bridal shower list at the Hus­sar Credit Union and for­ward it to Ar­lena and her hus­band to be, Brett Lyb­bert.

The Hus­sar Ceme­tery Cleanup is June 6 at 5 pm. Any help would be wel­come!
