Rumsey & District Register
Welcome, welcome to all this rain, it has been most welcome in all areas since we have been so dry this spring. Everything is looking a lot greener.
I apologize for not submitting a column last week but it has been a very busy week in our house with our last son, Russel’s, graduation. I know that there are others in our community also graduating this year. I would like to extend congratulations to Reagan Burrows, Danielle and Trevor’s son, who graduated from Drumheller, Riley Helmer (Linda Helmers grandson) Kevin and Kim’s son who graduated from Trochu. Quinton Kopjar graduated from Okotoks where he was attending a baseball academy. Kassidy Kowalchuk, John and Paula’s daughter graduated from Trochu. From Morrin, we had 5 local kids graduate: Amy Adams, Erica Nelson, Katie Primrose, Carson Hodge and Mitchell Hodge. There were also two other grads from Morrin, Tyler Hayes and Derek Cullum from the Morrin and Munson areas. Good luck in all your future endeavors.
The 4-H Beef show is fast approaching and our Rumsey club is in high gear getting the final polish on their calves and setting up the Delia Arena for the show. It will be held on Monday, June 6 starting at 9 am with the Heifer portion of the show. The steers will follow at 12:30, banquet at 5:00 and the sale will start at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to come and watch some good kids at work. There are 11 members in the Rumsey club this year: Brett and Amanda Holowath, Vannessa, Meah and Cadynce Richmond, Noel Kiemele, Corbyn and Blake Stoneman, Zoe Avramenko, Ryley and Brady Mappin. Good luck to all of you.
The Rumsey minor baseball is in mid-swing of their season. I know that the midget group will be playing tonight in Rumsey up at the diamonds starting at 6:30 so if you want to come out and cheer, there is nothing bet- ter than a good game on a warm evening in the springtime.
The Rumsey Historical Society is getting excited about their grand debut of the new History book. They will be celebrating by having a supper on June 10 starting at 5 pm with a small ceremony to follow and, of course, this will be your first opportunity to purchase the new book so don’t miss out. I hope you get a chuckle: It was graduation day and Mom was trying to take a picture of their son in a cap and gown, posed with his father.
“Let’s try to make this look natural “she said.” Junior, put your arm around your dad’s shoulder.”
The father answered, “If you want it to look natural, why not have him put his hand in my wallet?”
And: A little girl took her report card home and showed it to mom. The mother was very disappointed by all the very low grades. “Well look on the bright side” said the child, “you know for sure I don’t cheat.”
Have a great week.
