Top dollar earned at Drumheller and Dis­trict 4-H Show and Sale

The Drumheller & Dis­trict 4-H Show was held on Mon­day, June 6, at the Delia Arena.

Mem­bers of 4-H from across the dis­trict showed their best calves to at­tract the high­est bid­der.

This year’s Grand Cham­pion was a 1,465 pound steer owned by Kennedy Paget from Hes­keth-Orkney. The steer sold to Drumheller Chrysler for $3.90/lb.

The Re­serve Cham­pion was Amanda Holowath from Rum­sey-Row­ley. Her 1,436 pound steer was bought for $3.60/lb. by Hanna Mo­tor Prod­ucts.

The av­er­age price per pound of the evening for over 54 an­i­mals was $3.50.

Con­for­ma­tion Judge was Den­nis Erick­son, Groom­ing Judge was Alisha Min­chau, and Show­man­ship Judge was Kay­ley Peltzer.

The ad­ju­di­ca­tors for the dis­trict judg­ing com­pe­ti­tion were Rus­sel Se­vick and Low­ell Nel­son.

The 2016 Car­lie Bell award was awarded to Levi Reed from Delia. This award is to rec­og­nize 4-H mem­bers whose ef­forts and en­thu­si­asm en­cour­ages 4-H ac­tiv­i­ties and mem­ber par­tic­i­pa­tion.

Koren McDougald, one of the or­ga­niz­ers of the event, says the show was a suc­cess.

“The day was great, we sold over 30 an­i­mals. We had great sup­port from our buy­ers and tro­phy spon­sors. We would like to thank ev­ery­one who came out.”
