What an amazing morning and afternoon at Nazareth last Sunday. We had a ton of kids take part in the bike-a-thon and they raised enough in pledges to send 22 kids to Camp Kuriakos this year! We had lots of brothers, sisters, friends and even grandpas take part even though they didn’t go to camp! Everyone had a blast at the picnic and doing the Geo-Cache at the end. Thank you to everyone who donated money and supported the kids by sponsoring them through pledges. The entire community at Nazareth and in Standard really pulled together to make camp happen for deserving kids in our town. So awesome! Rosina Christensen won a prize for raising the most pledges! Rosina also won for the most laps in her age group. Daniel Jensen won for his age group and Kash Koole won for his! Way to go guys!

The Nazareth Church Women are holding their luncheon on June 20 at 11:30 am at the home of Janice Jensen. All ladies of the congregation and friends are welcome. Please let Janice know if you are coming as soon as possible.

The Standard Neighborhood Watch is having a meeting on June 20 at the Senior’s Centre at 7:30 pm. If you have any concerns please come make those known to RCMP officer Clay Townsend, who is our liaison. Please remember to report any vandalism or suspicious activity to the RCMP. Watch out for each other!

The Standard Municipal Library is hosting its second annual Golf Tournament in Bassano on July 15. For more information, contact Mark or Elizabeth at Gates Agencies, if you have a team you want to enter or are able to sponsor a hole!

Dyanna Couture has a ton of baby convict cichlids that need homes! Don’t have an aquarium? She can help you out there too! Convict Cichlids can be aggressive, so they need to be with other cichlids or alone. They are amazing parents. The dad babysits and will actually swish the babies around in his mouth to bathe them and then spit them out. Call 644-3998 if you would like some!

The NLC youth’s next fundraiser will be a mega garage sale to be held on Sports Day at the church. They are seeking donations of items to sell. Items can be dropped off at the manse next to the church (1002 1st Street West) or please call Pastor Dyanna (403-644-3998) if you would like them picked up. As always, your donations and support are appreciated! We are almost on our way to PEI!

As always, submissions can be made to standardnewz@gmail. com or to Pastor Dyanna Couture at 403-644-3998. Please try to have your submissions in by early evening on Sunday! power failure. Gave the guys a good rest but hard to get back in the right frame of mind.

A reminder that Greg Cole’s farm auction is this Thursday with lots of things on the sale bill. It will likely be a good crowd.

Last Saturday, Ross Eremko took me to the Tullocopf farm auction south of Three Hills and when we arrived at 10:00 a.m., my ticket number was 239 if I wanted to buy anything. Later, I saw folks with numbers into the 400’s and out of all those people I knew 5. Some came a great distance just in the hope that they would get what they wanted for a good price. Some things went for quite ridiculous prices but that’s par for the course I guess.

A further note to the Orkney Sports Day ... supper will be about 5:30 p.m. and the ladies are reminded to please bring a salad and a pie.

A further reminder that Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 19 so, treat him to breakfast in bed or maybe something different that is more to his liking.

Have a good week, do something nice for someone. It doesn’t have to be big or cost money, just smile and say hello.
