Rumsey & District Register

The Drumheller Mail - - CLASSIFIEDS - Patty Steen 403-368-3820

The results are in from the 4-H Show and Sale and you can be proud of our kids again this year. The Rumsey/ Rowley club did very well. I will list the results from the club level and if they went on to win in the district level it will be noted. In confirmation, the Grand Champion went to Amanda Holowath where she went on to Districts to bring in Reserve award. Reserve Grand Champion at club level went to Corbyn Stoneman. In Junior Grooming, first went to Ryley Mappin and second went to Blake Stoneman. Ryley continued on to win Junior Districts Grooming as well. Intermediate grooming first went to Corbyn Stoneman who placed second at districts level. Zoey Avremenko took home second. In Senior grooming there was a tight race between Brett Holowath and Vannessa Richmond with Brett taking first and Vannessa taking second.

In the Showmanship category, at Junior level, Ryley Mappin again took home first and his brother Brady took home second. At Intermediate level, Corbyn Stoneman received first while Amanda Holowath won second spot. Amanda also won second at the Districts level. In Seniors competition, Brett Holowath was recognised for his efforts with a first place ribbon and Vannessa received second spot.

The Rate of Gain went to Meah Richmond’s calf with an amazing 3.52 lbs per day rate of gain. That was calculated on 205 days of feed from November to show day.

Earlier in the day, the heifers and cow/calf catagories were in the ring. Blake Stoneman beat out his older brother, Corbyn, with his heifer entry. Good for you Blake, probably doesn’t happen too often. That awarded Blake with the Grand Club Female Champion and Corbyn with the Reserve Champion. May your females go on to raise you many more 4-H champions. Amanda Holowath won the Cow/calf category but lost out to the Stoneman boys in the overall female grand champion competition.

Rumsey/Rowley continued to clean up on the awards as they won the Pen of 3, Stall competition and Ryley Mappin won second in District Junior judging. The awards night date is still tentative at this time so hopefully I will be able to let you know next week as the club always opens its doors to everyone who has helped the kids during the year to come and enjoy a delicious steak supper that evening.

The Midgets will be playing baseball this evening up at the diamonds so head up if you want to enjoy a good game of baseball. They are doing well in their league this year but will have some make up games to clear off the schedule in the next few weeks because of previous rainouts.

I would like to send out a congratulations to Jim and Stephanie Richmond on the impending marriage of their daughter, Samantha to Brandon Nemetz this coming Saturday, June 18. The wedding will be held on the farm with a dance to follow at the Rumsey hall. They would like to invite the community at large to come celebrate their nuptials at the dance. There will be a toonie bar.

Pat Hatt hosted the birthday party at St. Mary’s Lodge in May and there were two special birthdays to celebrate from the Lodge this month; Pete Frere and Ted Wilkinson. Pat Holowath will be hosting the next party on June 20. Thank you Linda for bringing me this news.

Quote from a High School Graduate:

When I say I will miss school, I mean my friends and the fun NOT the studying part!

Have a great week.
