Please plan on at­tend­ing the “Farewell to Rock­y­ford School” BBQ on Thurs­day, June 23 at 5:00 p.m. Ev­ery­one is wel­come to at­tend and cel­e­brate the many decades the school has been in our com­mu­nity, be­fore clos­ing its doors for the fi­nal time at the end of June.

Birthday greet­ings to those of you cel­e­brat­ing this week are sent to; Kari-Lynn Ger­rit­sen, Don­nie Koester, El­iz­a­beth Burke, Ta­mara Newell, Theresa Wise, Fiona El­der and Robin See­ley. Happy An­niver­sary to; An­gela and Chris Geer­aert, Howard and Lau­rie Keeler, Rus­sel and Shaunna Muenchrath, Mike and Pam Ele­niak and to any­one else cel­e­brat­ing a spe­cial oc­ca­sion this week.

Rock­y­ford Li­ons Club is hav­ing a Bull-a-Rama once again this year. This event will take place at the rodeo grounds on Thurs­day, June 30. Things get started with bar­be­cued burg­ers at 6 p.m., fol­lowed by mut­ton bust­ing at 8:30 p.m., bull rid­ing starts at 9 p.m., fol­lowed by the awe­some fire­works dis­play at 11 p.m. Ad­mis­sion is free af­ter 11 p.m. for the Canada Day fire­works. Hope to see you there!

St. Rita’s Church would like to in­vite both parish and com­mu­nity mem­bers to a potluck sup­per on Sun­day, June 26 at 5:00 pm be­ing hosted in the Parish Room of the Com­mu­nity Cen­tre. Bill Locke of St. Joseph’s Parish in Cal­gary and Fr. Joseph of St. Rita’s will be pre­sent­ing a fi­nal re­port on the “VIKAS In­dia Hous­ing Project” and would like to share the in­for­ma­tion with all mem­bers who do­nated funds to this very worth­while cause. Please join in as we share a meal and friend­ship together. Each fam­ily is asked to con­trib­ute an item for the potluck sup­per. Bev­er­ages will be pro­vided. Any­one in­ter­ested is most wel­come to at­tend.

A re­minder that registration for Rock­y­ford Li­brary’s Drama Camp 2016 is open to chil­dren aged 7+. This is a great op­por­tu­nity for them to en­joy a safe and cre­ative space right at home to freely ex­press them­selves and their ideas, to foster a stronger sense of com­mu­nity and a greater pas­sion and ap­pre­ci­a­tion for the arts. Please con­tact the li­brary for more in­for­ma­tion and/or to reg­is­ter.

Learn to cre­ate a vik­ing knit bracelet of wire in any range of colours you can imag­ine at the li­brary on Thurs­day, June 16, be­gin­ning at 7:00 p.m. Registration fee cov­ers all costs of sup­plies and use of tools. Space is limited so please reg­is­ter be­fore June 16.

Speak­ing Vol­umes Book Club has its last meet­ing be­fore the sum­mer break at Rock­y­ford Li­brary, 7:00 on Wed­nes­day, June 15. En­joy read­ing books you may not nor­mally have read and dis­cussing them with friends. This is a very so­cial group with snacks and a lot of laugh­ter.

Rock­y­ford Li­brary’s pho­tog­ra­phy group has their last meet­ing be­fore the sum­mer on Wed­nes­day, June 22, at 6:30. All you need is an in­ter­est in im­prov­ing your pho­to­graphs. The group has monthly photo chal­lenges and then meet to dis­cuss how they did. In­ter­ested? Drop in and check it out!

“Artists’ Gar­dens: Na­ture In­spir­ing Art” is a video­con­fer­ence about the con- nec­tion be­tween na­ture and art. Join us at the li­brary at 7:00 on Tues­day, June 21 for this pre­sen­ta­tion by the Royal Botan­i­cal Gar­dens.

Choco­late lovers will love “The Ben­e­fits of Raw Choco­late”, a video-con­fer­ence at the li­brary on Thurs­day, June 23 (7-8 p.m.). This is a raw foods in­for­ma­tion ses­sion and demon­stra­tion of how very sim­ple it is to make high qual­ity choco­lates that will also im­prove your over­all health.
