RCMP seek assistance in attempted child abductions
Two males try to lure children to their vehicle in Carbon last Wednesday
Drumheller RCMP are investigating three incidents of possible attempted abduction of children in Carbon after reports were made of two men trying to lure children into their vehicles. The incidents occurred on Wednesday, June 29 between 8:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on Caradoc Avenue in Carbon.
Two male suspects, driving a white van or a small pick-up truck with a box topper with rust around the wheel wells, approached the children and tried to get them into the vehicle. One suspect is described as Caucasian, over 6 feet tall, in his 40s, with straight chin length brown hair. His face was unshaven and he wore a white t-shirt and ripped jeans.
Another suspect is described as Caucasian with a scruff y beard and brown hair, wearing a camo coloured ballcap. The children did not get in the vehicle and were not touched by the suspects. Corporal Rod Gutherie said they are still investigating the incident and have a few leads.
"We're continuing the investigation and following up on witness statements and surveillance footage," Gutherie said.
Drumheller RCMP urge anyone with information about these incidents or the suspects to contact the detachment at 403-823-7590.
