Drumheller and District 4-H News
Another 4-H year has come to an end for the Drumheller and District council. Our last activity of the year was decorating and riding the Canada Day float. The day before the parade some members from different clubs in the district came to help decorate the float. The float looked really good! After we finished decorating the float we were going to have a scavenger hunt and water fight but were rained out so we decided to go bowling instead. Everyone had lots of fun bowling and we had pizza after.
The day of the parade members met early to put the finishing touches on the float, then the judges came to judge the floats and our float won first in the youth category. Great job to all the members that helped make the float look so good! It was lots of fun riding on the float in the parade and throwing candy even though we ran out half way through the parade.
As well, the district was busy this spring with lots of activities. Our district hosted a Consumer decision making workshop at the Rumsey hall on April 3. Our 4-H specialist, Yvonne Yaremcio, lead the workshop and we judged different products like jeans, laptops, cereals, toys and shoes. It was a great day of improving our judging skills. Our district also held an ATV safety workshop April 23 at Morrin School. We had an instructor give us a presentation and then we had lunch and after we got to drive ATV’s. We had lots of fun and learned lots too. The District had a busy year and it was lots of fun and I hope to see everyone back next year. Have a great summer!
