Many Delia folk took in the parade in Drumheller on Canada Day and stayed to enjoy the fireworks. We had a fireworks show in Delia also, as fireworks were set off after dark. I don’t know who sponsored the show, but it was so pretty to watch, thanks to whoever had the idea.
Several members of the Drop In Centre travelled to Calgary on Thursday morning with Loran tours from Hanna. Destination was the Deerfoot Casino where we enjoyed a good lunch and a chance to lose some money. It was a nice trip, thanks to Loran Tours, they were great hosts and treated us royally.
The Delia Library had their annual garage sale earlier this summer, they are asking the lady who purchased the big cat stand at the sale, to please come and pick it up, or please call the Delia library to let them know if she still wants it. They don’t have her phone number or know where she lives.
Summer Reading pro- gram for kids age 6-12 begins every Tuesday at the Delia Library in the months of July and August from 2 –3:30 p.m. Please register your child if attending any of these dates so they are prepared: July 12 – Animal Mayhem; July 19 –Wild at HeART; July 26 –Something’s In the House; August 2 – Stony Stories; August 9 – Wild Hacking; August 16Jungle Rumble and August 23 – Dive In.
A meeting to discuss a plan to reopen the Delia General Store was held at the Drop In Centre on Monday night and was attended by an interested group of about thirty residents. Several ideas were brought forth and will be looked into. One member of our Village Council attended the meeting and will be checking some of the ideas brought forth. The present owners of the General store have retired and are enjoying a well earned rest.
School is out so it cer- tainly seems very quiet around Delia these days. I always miss hearing the children as they play at recess.
Craft Camp at the library on July 25,27, and 29, from 10 a.m. until 12 noon. Kids aged 6 and up are invited to come participate in a Craft Camp where making something new is so much fun. Come Create!
A special event at the Delia Library on July 13 from 11:30 to 12:15 – Discoveries – Gray Wolves of Alaska, come meet one of the six wolves and learn about how they interact and communicate. Live from the Alaska Zoo.
Every Friday afternoon from July 8 to August 19 the Library will offer a free movie, a different movie each week; join them for some great viewing adventures from 2 to 4 p.m.
