Many Delia folk took in the pa­rade in Drumheller on Canada Day and stayed to en­joy the fire­works. We had a fire­works show in Delia also, as fire­works were set off af­ter dark. I don’t know who spon­sored the show, but it was so pretty to watch, thanks to who­ever had the idea.

Sev­eral mem­bers of the Drop In Cen­tre trav­elled to Calgary on Thurs­day morn­ing with Lo­ran tours from Hanna. Des­ti­na­tion was the Deer­foot Casino where we en­joyed a good lunch and a chance to lose some money. It was a nice trip, thanks to Lo­ran Tours, they were great hosts and treated us roy­ally.

The Delia Li­brary had their an­nual garage sale ear­lier this sum­mer, they are ask­ing the lady who pur­chased the big cat stand at the sale, to please come and pick it up, or please call the Delia li­brary to let them know if she still wants it. They don’t have her phone num­ber or know where she lives.

Sum­mer Read­ing pro- gram for kids age 6-12 be­gins ev­ery Tues­day at the Delia Li­brary in the months of July and Au­gust from 2 –3:30 p.m. Please reg­is­ter your child if at­tend­ing any of these dates so they are pre­pared: July 12 – An­i­mal May­hem; July 19 –Wild at HeART; July 26 –Some­thing’s In the House; Au­gust 2 – Stony Sto­ries; Au­gust 9 – Wild Hack­ing; Au­gust 16Jun­gle Rum­ble and Au­gust 23 – Dive In.

A meet­ing to dis­cuss a plan to re­open the Delia Gen­eral Store was held at the Drop In Cen­tre on Mon­day night and was at­tended by an in­ter­ested group of about thirty res­i­dents. Sev­eral ideas were brought forth and will be looked into. One mem­ber of our Vil­lage Coun­cil at­tended the meet­ing and will be check­ing some of the ideas brought forth. The present own­ers of the Gen­eral store have re­tired and are en­joy­ing a well earned rest.

School is out so it cer- tainly seems very quiet around Delia these days. I al­ways miss hear­ing the chil­dren as they play at re­cess.

Craft Camp at the li­brary on July 25,27, and 29, from 10 a.m. un­til 12 noon. Kids aged 6 and up are in­vited to come par­tic­i­pate in a Craft Camp where mak­ing some­thing new is so much fun. Come Cre­ate!

A spe­cial event at the Delia Li­brary on July 13 from 11:30 to 12:15 – Dis­cov­er­ies – Gray Wolves of Alaska, come meet one of the six wolves and learn about how they in­ter­act and com­mu­ni­cate. Live from the Alaska Zoo.

Ev­ery Fri­day af­ter­noon from July 8 to Au­gust 19 the Li­brary will of­fer a free movie, a dif­fer­ent movie each week; join them for some great view­ing ad­ven­tures from 2 to 4 p.m.
