Some of the Orkney folk have been on a great holiday to Milan, Italy to attend the wedding of the daughter of good friends. These travellers are Cathy and Kirstie Bell. They left on June 15 and were away for 10 days and did the touristy stuff while in Italy. A nice break before the summer activities get going.
These so-called showers we’ve been getting are rather strong, aren’t they? This past weekend there were several here in Drumheller and I am thankful the weather decied to behave on Saturday as I was at an outdoor wedding in Wayne and the reception and dance later at Roseddale. The storms late in the evenings or through the night were quite heavy but I slept through them.
I didn’t get to the July 1 activities so can’t comment on anything that was going on but am sure it was well attended.
If you’ve been watching the Weather Network on TV we’ve been mentioned several times in storm warnings for the area... gets scary after a while. Some of the storms in the States are really severe and I can’t imagine Las Vegas having 2 inches of hail and 1 inch of rain with high winds in one hour. That must have been a jolt to them. Lots of flooding too as they have no drainage system for the desert. We may complain about the weather (and we do) but we certainly live in a great part of the world.
Don’t forget Stampede starts this week in Calgary and the parade is on Friday morning if you want to watch it on TV.
Have a great week and as the weather guy says “when you hear the thunder take cover”.
