So...school’s out for the summer, and a dandy one it is. I took a drive out to Stettler last week and it is so pretty driving that way anyway but oh my, the fields looked fantastic! What a beautiful season...gardens are blooming and crops are flourishing.

And the Sod House is always a neat part of summer tourism in Morrin. Word from Bill Montgomery is that the Sod House will be open every Monday and Wednesday throughout July and August from 10:00 – 6:-00 p.m. We live directly across the lane from the Sod House Park and we see a lot of people who drive up to take a peek and then stop to enjoy their picnic lunch...so thanks to the Sod House Committee for making this happen for summer visitors.

And yearly Morrin property tax assessments/statements were sent out in the mail recently with a follow-up notice in the water bill that there was an error on the due date. The due date and last date before penalty should read July 31.

Also wanted to offer quick congratulations to Morrin resident Anthony Huxley who applied for and won the job of summer student worker and got to start in the position just this week. Anthony will be an assistant to our Public Works foreman David Benci who will welcome the added help, especially to keep up with the mowing and weed-whipping around town.

So the days are warm and the rain comes in the evenings...pretty much perfect for all those who like to be outside and for all things growing. This past Sunday morning my daughter Charly and I were scanning for the flax crop as we neared the Drumheller Valley. As we got close to the descent into town, we were delighted to see a hint of the beautiful lavender flowers beginning to bud in the field to the right side of the highway.

And everything was quiet and peaceful on Sunday in Drumheller compared to the earlier Friday, July 1st celebration, which was as wonderful as ever and the weather was fantastic for the Canada Day parade... “In all thy sons command”! And happy July 4th shout-out to all our American friends...cheers!
