Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills… with summer upon us I am probably not going to be getting much news but if I have it I will write it so please continue to send me your news.. What a wet country we live in!! Over the past weekend we had 3 ½’”. When and if that sun decides to shine the country is going to be so green and the crops and the hay land are going to love it. We are so fortunate. Theresa diegel pegged July and August as our wettest months. We all know that here in the Hills once the tap shuts off it might not open again so we will enjoy this wet weather!
Hope that everyone had a great Canada Day! We do live in the best country in the world. One just has to listen to the news and that fact comes to light.
Most of this column is dedicated to Congratulating some very special people that have ties to the Hills. Some of this is very late but the Stampede report, no internet last week and just life got in the way of reporting it earlier. My apologies but the Congratulations are still the same.
The Graduating Class of 2016 from Hanna JCC High School had three students that have roots here in the Hills! Reo Raugust, Raelene Minchau and Shane Olesen . These three young grads made their families very proud of their accomplishments. Go take on the world, it is yours to conquer.
Graduating on the weekend of June 4 was Logan Poulson. Logan has volunteered extensively at the Hand Hills and as he moves on in life he will be missed here in the Hills at the various functions . Keep in touch Logan! Bill and Rose you must be so proud of Logan as he is an outstanding young person who has a great community spirit.
Veronica Minchau Graduated from Olds College with her Animal Health Technician Degree. Congratulations and enjoy your new job in your chosen career!
Another Great Grandchild was added to Reinhold Doerings’ Family Tree. Baby Boy Cash Robert was born to Drake Gladdish and Chyanne Doering and is a baby brother to Lucas. Enjoy your family!
Another Award for Shiloh Cattle Company and this one comes in the form of being selected Purebred Breeder of the Year for 2016. All the time and effort that Blake and Darcy put into their cattle herd is being recognized! Congratulations to All involved.
Congratulations to Dave and Shireylee Shields! They tied the knot on June 18 at a very special wedding ceremony in the Foothills of Alberta. Many happy, happy years are wished to this happy couple. Congratulations to Merna Shields on this special occasion, you must be so proud of your son and his new wife.
And they won the race! Colt Cosgrave won the Ponoka Stampede Dash for Cash and is $50,000.00 richer, will be driving a new truck around the Hills and has a beautiful bronze to display on his fireplace. Hand Hills is very proud and happy for the Cosgraves. This was a long time coming and very well deserved. We watch Colt during Spring Training and his manner of training horses is truly a site to see. He is so relaxed and therefore his horses are too. He keeps them calm and it is paying off. We will be watching for more wins as the summer progresses. Calgary Stampede and the Polka Dots, Go Colt Go!
Till next week… or the week after or whenever you send me some news! Enjoy your summer!
