READ ALL ABOUT IT
Funny thing about people, we didn't know that retired Hanna teacher George Patzer was a brother to Shirley Komarnisky, and had to read his obituary to find out.. We had always seen George at political meetings around the area, and we had never seen him without a big smile on his face. George passed away last week and he was a big part of the Hanna community. Rest easy, old friend.
We read that Air Canada has started a new feature for your online giving. It is called "EMBARQ", and the idea is that if you want to fly somewhere, all you do is register, let your friends and family know on social media, and then they are supposed to donate to your flight online. Kind of like a Go Fund Me for holiday plans.
While this scheme kind of peaked our interest, we don't have any immediate plans for a holiday, but would still like to encourage anyone who feels generous, to dig out $20 from your pocket and hand it over, saying this is for your holiday. We can't offer anyone a tax receipt, but do promise to spend it wisely.
And Thank You.
Down at Newcastle Beach on the week-end and met three visitors who were somewhat disappointed with what they saw after hearing about the "beach".
But to the town's credit, someone has tilled the beach area, in the hopes of some improvement in the future, and maybe a few loads of better sand wouldn't hurt either. Lots of people over the years have had high hopes for the area, and there is still a lot of day use, but there is a long way to go. May be a plan for the area could be discussed, and include another ball diamond. It is still a nice place to visit, and there is lots of potential.
Have to say we were overdue for the rainstorms of the past few nights, you can almost feel them coming, but then if you have a dog in the house, he/she knows before you do. Yet, so far so good, the grain crops around the area look fantastic for this time of year and even the farmers we talk to are quite optimistic. How about those Blue Jays? On July 1, they played 19 innings against the divisionleading Cleveland Indians, eventually losing 2-1. To go that distance, their bullpen had been emptied, and they had to put position players Ryan Goins and Darwin
Barney into service to deliver some pitches, which was a unique move. Quite a game.
Guess we can say that Gwen Wood was another of those people who we have known all of our life, and had a visit with her not long ago outside the Chinook
Financial. She passed away last week, but will remember she had a neat laugh, and was always dressed well. It was a pleasure to know her.
Rest easy, old friend.
