Dear Editor;

Re: MLA Fildebrandt joins Rosebud fight against motorsports resort

I was quite heartened to see this article by Kyle Smylie in the paper on the 28th of June. As a resident of Kneehill, I feel quite frustrated that the councillors of the County are not responding to the wishes of their constituents. The council meeting some mouths ago at which the proposed racetrack was discussed had so many Kneehill residents in attendance that they had to move to a bigger room; this highlights the disconnect between the locals’ concerns and how the councillors are voting.

Allowing the Badlands Motorsports Development to establish a racetrack on the Rosebud River is wrong – this is not the place for an activity that will ruin the habitat of many endangered plants and animals and of course affect those of us living nearby.

“Save the Rosebud” is a proactive movement by local farmers to protect the Rosebud River Valley from habitat destruction. I am pleased to see that MLA Fildebrandt is champion this cause and I hope other elected officials will too. The Badlands is a unique environment and we all need to support its protection and stop the proposed racetrack development in this area.
