Morrin Community Calendar
Another week begins...looks to be a little cloudy and cooler for the next few days and, we sure are getting the severe summer rainstorms in the evenings, whoa! The earth got another good soaking as the heavens opened and it really came down this past Saturday night. But the days are warm and crops are thick and lush...loving the summer.
So, here is a good tidbit of info...I received a call from Brad Olsen recently and he wanted to pass on some interesting news to everyone. I am told that we had a pretty good men’s hockey team once upon a time called the Morrin Flyers and Brad has a picture to prove it. Former resident Dan Neill, older brother of John and Brian played as a goaltender for the club and he has kept safe, a well-preserved team jacket from 1955...looks brand new! And, he is generously donating the attractive blue and gold jacket to the Morrin Arena Sportsplex. The garment will soon be on display for all to see in a custom made glass cabinet. A very nice gift indeed that will enhance the décor in the halls of the Morrin Arena...so thank you very much Dan Neill for taking such good care of the jacket all these years and for passing back for all to enjoy!
And right across the road from the Morrin Arena is of course, the lovely Sod House Park and Bill Montgomery is happy to announce that the museum will be open throughout the summer months every Monday and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Levi Hampton was manning the fort at the Sod House this past Monday and when called upon, also offered his help and strength over at the Morrin School garden, as Mrs. Russell was out to do some caretaking. Thanks to Michelle and all the kids that came out to pull some weeds. My daughter Charly ran over to help as well and this week she is gone to Salem Acres Girls Camp, so missing her a whole bunch! Sighhhh....and that is all the news for today...cheers! it
