I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Canada Day and the wet, wet weather since. I have heard reports of storms dropping as much as 3 inches and 3/10’s south of town so that is tremendous! It is Stampede week and typically rainy weather. I hope if the hay has been cut at your place you will be able to get it baled up without too much rain damage.
This coming weekend is exciting for our community as it is our annual Sports Days. The slow pitch games will start on Friday night and continue all Saturday with the finals being played Sunday afternoon. The concession will be running all weekend as well. The money raised from it will go towards the 2017 grad class of Morrin High School. There is also a supper and dance on Saturday night plus free camping though we do ask all trailer owners to be considerate when they park their campers. I know everyone likes to “circle the wagons” but sometimes that circle becomes so big that it eliminates many parking places for more trailers. We would like to encourage as many people to camp, tent or just park them- selves somewhere safe at our Sports Days so that we don’t have people driving home after they have been drinking. It will be a fun weekend for our community so be sure to come up and enjoy the ball games.
The S.T.A.R.S Ride is also fast approaching. It will be held on Sunday, August 7 starting at 9 am. There will be a breakfast available during registration, lunch provided by the Grouch crew and supper prepared by the Country Cookers. There will also be a silent auction and raffle going on all day so even if you choose not to ride through the beautiful coulees, you can sit in the sunshine, listen to some local entertainers, maybe take a dip in the river and enjoy some delicious food.
Here’s something for those recent graduates, enjoy;
Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Officer asks a young engineer fresh out of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, “And what starting salary are you looking for?” The engineer replies, “In the region of $125,000 a year, depending on the benefits package.” The interviewer inquires, “Well, what would you say to a package of five weeks vacation, 14 paid holidays, full medical and dental, company matching retirement fund to 50% of salary, and a company car leased every two years, say, a red Corvette?” The engineer sits up straight and says, “Wow! Are you kidding?” The interviewer replies, “Yeah, but you started it.”
Have a great week.
