Delia Senior News
Delia had another heavy rain last night, although the thunder wasn’t quite as horrendous as our last storm, and, so far, we have been spared the hail damage that other communities have had to contend with. What a shame to see crops and gardens wiped out by “the big white combine”! All that hard work for nothing!
There is nothing new to report on the efforts to save our general store. The owners had reached the time where they wanted to retire and spend some years just enjoying their families. It was a good viable business that served the town well and would be a great opportunity for someone who cared for small town life.
There was no June birthday party at the Delia Drop In Centre due to conflicting schedules, so there will be a birthday party at the Drop In on Wednesday for members and friends having birthdays in June and July. The party takes place at the Drop In at 2 p.m., everyone welcome. Doreen and Eva are hostesses for the day. The next birthday party at the Drop In will take place in September.
The potluck lunch at the Drop In will be Thursday, July 21, at noon sharp. Everyone welcome.
Residents of Delia: The Henry Kroger water line has asked for our assistance in conserving water until further notice. They have a water leak by Youngstown which will take 10 – 15 days to fix. With all the rain we have had lately, no one should have to water their lawns or gardens now.
It will be interesting to see if the post office will really go on strike early this week. Sort of like sounding their own death knell. With email and online services the post office is nearly obsolete now- why would they hasten their demise?
Craft Camp at the library on July 25, 27, and 29. Kids aged 6 and up are invited to come participate in a Craft Camp where making something new is so much fun. Come create!
On July 20 at 3 p.m., come discover stories and music, join Rick and Erica Bergh in a sing song and exploration of children’s books at the library. On July 22, from 11 to 12 noon listen to some stories and learn to bring characters from Pokemon and Calvin to life in an interactive videoconference at the Delia library. Recommended for ages 10 plus.
Birthday greetings to Barry McLeod on the 13th of July, to John Kakuk on the 16th and Tasha Moe on the 17th. Happy anniversary to Jolene and Cody Scott on the 12th of July. Enjoy your special day.
Remember to be kind – everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about.
