Orkney Oracle

The Drumheller Mail - - REAL ESTATE - Norma West 403-823-9750

There isn’t much news this week except to comment as usual about the weather and wonder how the farmers are getting the spraying done with the fields being so soft.

The community extends congratulations to Taylor Meuller and Wes Kashuba who were married July 9 on a hill overlooking Rosebud and the reception and dance in Rosebud as well. Some of the Orkney folk attended the dance. The newlyweds will continue to live in Morrin.

This past week I had granddaughter Roberta Keichinger from Lethbridge stop in on Tuesday night, spent Wednesday with me and on to Edmonton on Thursday morning. She is on holiday right now and then back to work until the first week in August for another week to call her own. I always enjoy it when the younger ones come.

If anyone is planning on attending the Stampede this week give me a call as I have some admittance tickets that are free. Phone between 9:00 and 11:00 am.

As I’m writing this column at 2:30 Monday afternoon there is another downpour of rain. It would be nice if it took a few days off!

That’s it for this week. From Reader’s Digest is a comment from Gloria Steinem, “One of the simplest paths to deep change is for the less powerful to speak as much as they listen and the more powerful to listen as much as they speak.” It would be nice if politicians did that.
