Morrin Community Calendar

The Drumheller Mail - - CLASSIFIEDS - Darcy Graham 403-772-3747

And a happy summer July day to all...as I write a bit of news this Monday morning I see a beautiful blue sky and the sun is shining bright and it looks like a warm high pressure weather system may be settling in around us this week. How about that hey! I don’t think I have seen SO much rain, ever in July, and, crazy thunder and lightning on a daily basis! Pretty impressive! With all this moisture and now sun this week, the already amazing lush crops will continue to flourish as well as our often dry, dusty badlands which have transformed to velvety green...lovely.

So, hope you all got a chance to check the Morrin news last week as I included a piece about Dan Neill, brother of John and Brian, who has generously donated a 1955 Morrin Flyers hockey jacket back to our community. Dan was a goaltender for the men’s winning team back in the day. The well preserved blue and gold jacket will soon be on display in a custom made glass cabinet to grace the halls of the Morrin & District Arena SportsPlex. Thanks to Brad Olsen for passing on this interesting information and to the editor at the Drumheller Mail for the bright color picture that accompanied the story...much appreciated!

And, I have to comment on the efficiency of the paving crew hard at work to resurface the highway from the bottom of the hill in Drumheller all the way to the Morrin Corner. I don’t know much about that kind of thing but wait times are minimal and it sure is nice to drive on the new, smooth asphalt and, even in spite of all the rain, they are getting ‘er done quickly! Good job!

So, with the summer precipitation, we have hardly had to water the flowers or the lawn...and thanks to kind neighbors for passing on to our family, the bounty of plentiful gardens. My daughter Charly often teases me and tells me rather than a “green thumb” I have the “thumb of death” haha...and more fake flowers than real ones...inside, outside, upstairs, downstairs, so I do appreciate the local fresh lettuce and beets that have come our way...yum!

And blessings and safe travels to all who are on vacation and to all those arriving to attend the Canadian Badlands Passion Play. We got to go on opening night and the newly scripted show from the book of Luke was fantastic! Looks like the weather is going to be on your side for this final weekend of performances of “The Greatest Story Ever Told”! Cheers!
