Don’t forget to come on out to Big Valley this August long weekend to enjoy some great entertainment, delicious food and plenty of fun, family friendly activities as we host the 13th Annual Hivernant Métis Days.
Weekend activities include traditional dancing, storytelling, music, Voyager games and so much more. Check out the trapper’s camp and teepees, visit vendors offering traditional crafts, take a horse drawn Red River Cart ride, or try your hand at various crafts, drum making, or fiddle lessons. The weekend will include a church service, a talent contest and a supper and dance. While you’re here in Big Valley, be sure to visit McAlister Motors and the Tool Museum, which are open for viewing every day; or check out St. Edmunds Church, the rail car of salt and pepper shakers and the grain elevator which are open during train times.
The Big Valley Fire Department would like to welcome everyone to their annual weekend fundraiser on August 6 and 7 under the tent at the Big Valley Ball Diamonds. They will be hosting a steak supper starting at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 6 and a pancake breakfast from 8:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 7. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go towards the purchase of vital tools and equipment for our fire department, so come on out to support this worthwhile community event.
The Big Valley Golf Club will be holding its second annual mixed tournament on Sunday, August 7. This fun day includes 18-hole scramble, a BBQ smokie lunch, and a steak BBQ supper. To register or for more information call 403-741-4143.
The Big Valley Library would like to remind area parents and kids about our Summer Reading Program. Come join us at the library every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon, beginning at 2:00 p.m. for crafts, fun games, treats and of course some great books. Everyone is welcome.
