It is with heavy hearts we an­nounce the pass­ing of David Wayne Powell, much loved hus­band of Lori, and much loved dad of Tyson and Kas­sidy at Pine Lake, Al­berta on July 22, 2016. Dave was born on Septem­ber 21, 1968 in Mor­den, Man­i­toba to Wayne and Iris Powell. Dave took his school­ing in the Drumheller Val­ley, grad­u­at­ing from D.C.H.S. in 1986. Dave ex­celled in the Val­ley, he dab­bled in the in­surance in­dus­try briefly, he then took on the as­sis­tant man­ager po­si­tion of the Di­nosaur Val­ley Golf and Coun­try Club at a young age. In 1990, Dave found his niche in life, he be­came the owner man­ager of the Sports Room, he and his wife and fam­ily worked dili­gently, mak­ing it a suc­cess. He al­ways had the time to help and visit with peo­ple in this ca­pac­ity. As Dave and Lori’s fam­ily grew, he be­came in­volved in many vol­un­teer jobs, Pres­i­dent and Founder of Bad­lands Lacrosse, Drumheller Val­ley Ski club, Founder of Di­nofest, VP of Drumheller Cham­ber of Com­merce, Drumheller Slow Pitch As­so­ci­a­tion, he also could be found coach­ing var­i­ous ac­tiv­i­ties that his chil­dren were in, Drumheller Mi­nor Hockey coach for 6 years, Bad­lands Lacrosse for 7 years, Ju­nior B Lacrosse for 3 years, coached and in­structed down­hill ski­ing for 7 years and var­sity bas­ket­ball. Dave was a com­mu­nity minded man, his quick wit and in­fec­tious laugh will be missed. Dave was pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, Wayne & Iris Powell, his brother-in-law Greg Reitze, and two un­cles, Ken Powell and Garth Powell. Dave leaves be­hind, his wife Lori, his son Tyson, his daugh­ter Kas­sidy, his sis­ter Kim Reitze, nephew Jeremy Reitze, niece Ken­dahl Reitze, Lori’s fam­ily, fa­ther and mother in-law Tim & Marg Ewing, brother-in-law Ja­son (Alisha) Ewing, neph­ews Kobe Ewing, Gray­den Ewing, niece Mor­gan Ewing, bil­let sons, Justin Rug­giero and Josh Kluck, and a life­time of friends. A Ser­vice of Re­mem­brance will be held Fri­day, July 29, 2016 from the Rosedale Com­mu­nity Hall at 2:00 P.M., if friends so de­sire me­mo­rial do­na­tions may be made in Mem­ory of Dave to A.L.S. or the Cana­dian Di­a­betes As­so­ci­a­tion.
