The rain continues to sprinkle (or drown) the hay farmers as they work quickly to cut, rake and bale up some really impressive looking crops. They may have had a slow start this spring but all that rain from May long weekend has really made a difference. We have recorded over 12” since then and I know that Martha Lynn could say that she had that much in a week!

Brittany Cawiezel would like to let everyone know that they will be celebrating Lori and Craig’s 25 anniversary at the Rumsey Curling Rink on Saturday, August 6 from 2 to 6 pm. There will be a light supper for the guests. Brittany wants everyone to know that there is camping space available for those who want to make it a weekend and they do not want any presents, your presence will be enough.

The very next day is another exciting day for Rumsey as the 27th annual S.T.A.R.S Ride will be heading out from the TL Bar Ranch into the beautiful coullees for a 3 hour ride. Registration is from 8 to 9 am and the ride will leave shortly after. There is breakfast, lunch and supper offered throughout the day and this is open to the entire community so head down to take part in any or all of the meals, enter the raffles, silent auction, poker rally, watch the Dog and Duck demo and enjoy a nice day in the Red Deer River valley. You need a minimum of $20 in pledges to join the ride but since it is a fundraiser for S.T.A.R.S it is easy to raise more.

A giggle for the kids: What happens when you throw a green rock into the Red Sea? It gets wet.

And for the grownups who remember Bob Hope, the famous comedian: If I’m on the golf course and lightening starts, I get inside fast. I figure if God wants to play through I’ll let him!

Have a great week, everyone.
