Hope everyone had an enjoyable long weekend, it may have been a little damp for camping but the sun did come out for part of the time. Last long weekend of the summer, except for Labor Day. Pretty soon we’ll be digging out the snow blowers! Ugh!
We all want to send our best wishes for a speedy recovery to Lisa Skaaning, Lisa had an horrific fall in Delia last Thursday, resulting in severe injuries. She was transported by ambulance to hospital in Drumheller and from there to Red Deer for further treatment. We are keeping her in our prayers for a full and quick recovery.
Please be very careful walking in Delia right now, as construction is taking place and there are many dangerous excavations and heavy equipment, watch for signs and watch your step.
The buzz around town is that the Delia General Store has been acquired through group investment and will reopen under the name “Highland Market”. It’s exciting to know our community will once again have important needs and convenience items available. I hear they are exploring management options. No firm date as to the opening. Welcome news for residents of Delia!
Mountain View Credit Union say they are proud to have been serving the Delia community for 12 fantastic years. Their anniversary celebration will take place at the Delia location on August 19, they are inviting the community to join them for a BBQ luncheon at the Branch. They will serve burgers and hot dogs from 11 until 2 , it’s been rumored there may be cake. Stop by and get your name in a draw and chat with the experienced staff. There might even be a surprise appearance by their famed mascot, Mountain Max. Mountain View is proud to serve their members and look forward to many more years in our wonderful little Village.
The Drop In Centre is open for coffee on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, drop in for coffee and a visit with your neighbors. The Drop In is also open on Friday afternoons for cards, starting at 1, everyone welcome , come for cards, visiting and a few laughs. Pot Luck is on the third Thursday of the month at noon sharp, stop by and join us for lunch.
Had a lovely surprise when a dear old friend of Byemoor days, Lydia Morlock, and her daughter, Louise, stopped in for a visit on Friday. A great day hashing over old memories and good times. Lydia actually grew up in the Delia area so she will probably be remembered by some former neighbors.
Lil and Ian Morrison celebrated another year of wedded bliss this long weekend, it was also their son, Ryan’s birthday on August 1. Norma Seegar will celebrate her special day on the 4th of August. Norman Marshall is the birthday boy on August 7. Enjoy your special day.
