Hand Hills Grapevine
Hello Hand Hills…can anyone remember this long of a stretch of wet weather? Since the end of May we have had 11 inches of rain. Other places are reporting more than that as the rains have been hit and miss all over. I wonder if Jock Boulter has any records that tell the story of another time when we had a two month stretch of rainy weather. Let me know Jock, as I know that you have kept records of precipitation for many years. With all the rain comes swarms of mosquitoes but it is definitely a trade off. Don’t leave home without Deet!
Even though this is really late our thoughts are still with Barb Burgemeister and family on the passing of Leroy. There were no words then and still no words now that make it easier for all involved. Keep his memory close and he will always be close. Everyone sends Condolences from the Hills.
I talked to Gerry Radke at her work place of Riverside Pharmacy a week or so ago and she relayed the great news that her Daughter Danielle got married. Darren and Danielle have been together for many years (I want to say 18) and they finally decided to tie the knot. They reside in Calgary. The wedding happened on June 17 and they plan a small family get together in Calgary when they return from their honeymoon. Congratulations from the Hills!
The Rosin Family had a Family Reunion at the Club on the long weekend. There they also celebrated Mildred Werners’ 80th Birthday at the same time. I am sure that this was a busy weekend knowing how many little ones are in the family.
We took in the Darryl Turner Auction Sale this past Saturday as did hundreds of other people. I have never seen so many people and so many things for sale as was at this sale. Rosehill Auction did a great job of keeping the sale going and prices were good. The Turners’ Yard is an oasis in the middle of nowhere and is a real labor of love. It was worth the trip just to see that yard. Amazing.
Okay I have to tell everyone…We have a new grandson!! Greydin Bryan Finnimore arrived on Thursday, Aug. 4 and weighed 6 lbs 12.5 ozs and was 20 inches long. We think he is just perfect and both Jenny and Dean are doing just great. Life is good.
The Bridal Shower held at the Club for Gabri- elle Lavoie, Bride to Be of Tommy Vredegoor, was well attended and she was overwhelmed with the day. Thanks to Amanda Hardy and BettyAnn Moench for doing such a great job of organizing and welcoming Gabrielle to the Community. Hand Hills rocks!
It is coming back! Tamara Quaschnick is heading up a committee that is going to be hosting the Donna Griffith Memorial Family Rodeo on Saturday, September 17 at the Hand Hills. Just like the Little Britches of the past, events will be similar and is geared to the family. Make plans to attend and entries will be taken up to and including September 12, till 6 p.m. Watch for further details. If anyone would like to be a sponsor for this event please contact Tamara. This is what Tamara had to say in regards to organizing this event. “It is intended to run the event like the Little Britches of days gone by, in tribute to a woman who loved and valued family and rodeo. We would love to host a day that is fun for the whole family, and gives us a chance to come together and make (and relive!) some memories.” Volunteers are needed, so plan to get involved.
Till next week…enjoy the green scenery that is abundant in the Hills. The bumper crops are a sight to see as well. We are truly blessed! Go enjoy!
